this economy claims another victim

. . .my aunt and uncle. They have a 14 year old and two 7 year old twins, one of whom is autistic. Well, this week, they received horrible back taxes news, and there's potential that they might lose their house.

And you know what my aunt was more upset over? She called my dad crying because she didn't want to come to my shower without a gift. That beyond broke my heart to hear. I told my father instantly that she does NOT have to bring a gift, and if they are still stuck, they do NOT have to give me a wedding gift. The wedding is supposed to celebrate families coming together, and if my aunt feels like she can't come to the wedding and shower because of money. . .

She's FAMILY, and she has to be there. I don't care about the presents. I care about her being there to celebrate with FH and I. isn't that what it's all about in the end, anyway?

Thank you. . .I'm really worried about her, my uncle, and the kids. it's very much in my aunt's nature to worry more about other people rather than her own situation. . .so I wasn't surprised that she was more worried about the shower, but it still broke my heart.

I'm so sorry to hear this. I'm sure they will really appreciate knowing that they mean so much to you and feel so much more comfortable knowing that you don't care about gifts but only about them.

I am so sorry to hear this This economy thing is seriously like a disease.. I am so sorry that your aunt & family have to deal with this

And to think that she wouldnt come to your shower bc of lack of gift, that is so sad... of course its so not about THAT!

I am so sorry.. You are right the weddings is just a celebration and you want your family there. It's not suppossed to be about money or gifts. I hope things work out.

you are so right...my heart goes out to them. it really isn't about the gifts when you think about it. it's about being with the ones you love on that special day.
