But i've always wondered, how did all of you get the exact addresses for all of your guests? Did you have to go to each individual guest and ask for their addresses? Did you look it up in the yellow pages? Isn't that extremely time consuming? Is there anything I could do to cut down on the time and effort?? I'm having a little under 300 guests

Re: This is going to be a stupid question
Honestly the majority I had and the rest I turned to FH's parents and my family (my cousin is like the great party planner and had a master family list) for the exact addresses and spelling.
Some friends that we didn't have we just asked them and they understood why we were asking.

No such thing as a stupid question here!! I hounded my family for as many addresses as I could find. Just give your future in-laws a list of who you need and your parents as well and make them do a little work for you. You can also send out a mass email to all of your friends and family and ask them to update you with their address. They'll know why your asking so most will answer you back right away.

Have your and his parents gather the addresses for the family members. have FH email his friends for addresses and you email yours. that should help cut down on you contacting everyone.

Okay, thanks! I think that'll definitely make it easier...I was starting to get worried, I have to send out my STD's soon!

Re: This is going to be a stupid question
Actually I have the list my mom used with all of the addresses on it...still have her written copy and there are a lot of people on that list that I'm inviting. So that worked out. The rest I'm just asking other family members who have them!

Re: This is going to be a stupid question
it is a bit of a process lol
For fh's family and family friends, i went to his mother and luckily she has an address book so she was able to give me most of her families and close family friends addresses. There were a few who changed address so she called them for updated info but not many. For my side it was the same thing, asked my mom and those she needed she called and asked them for it.
For my friends and FH's friends I sent a mass email lol but this is for close friends of ours and everyone emailed me their address so that part was easy. Then for others FH even text a bunch of friends and they text him back with addresses or he called them.

Re: This is going to be a stupid question
FH and I made our guest list. I had my Mom make hers and my FMILas well for her family. I also included my Grandmother in the list making process. After gathering the info and partial names/addresses I then went online to complete anything that was missing. I had a few OOT cousins STD's get returned but word spread through the family and I got emails from them directly or from family members with their correct addresses.

Re: This is going to be a stupid question
Some I had, some I had to ask FH to get, some I got from switchboard.com, some I got from FMIL, some my mom had left over from my sister's wedding list. Its a painful process. And before I had them printed I went though and doublechecked each one. Good luck!

Re: This is going to be a stupid question
So now I know for sure, i'm just going to divide all of the work for FH's parents, my parents, me and FH, I can't believe I never thought of that before..i'm so silly sometimes, lol

Re: This is going to be a stupid question
you have to ask people, like family members and friends for addresses.
As soon as FH and I got engaged i started this daunting task. I sent FH home with a list of people to get addresses and ph# for and he did.
I don't think it was ever supposed to be easy......
I also made a point to get the first and last name of all long time GF, BF and fiances of all of our guests with significant others.

Re: This is going to be a stupid question
We had to call our guests and ask for the adress. My cousin had a smilar guest list so I was able to hijack her guest list. It really helped!

Re: This is going to be a stupid question
I also sent out a mass email that way I could directly just copy everyone's addresses instead of having to type it all in PLUS confirming that nobody moved ~ killing two birds w/one stone.

Re: This is going to be a stupid question
God bless the Christmas card list!!! But obviously there were some that we had to ask for. FMIL took soooo long to give me addresses for her side. What, no Christmas card list???

Re: This is going to be a stupid question
I actually sent an email to all my friends and colleagues that I knew I wanted to invite asking them to send me their info and their significant others full name.
For the rest I relyed on my mother and my FMIL.

Re: This is going to be a stupid question
I sent out emails that way I could just copy and paste it into a word file so I did not have to type it. For FH side I got it from FMIL and made him call everyone else. Its a big pain but, then you have them typed up for your holiday cards the year after!
