what is mensa?
Mensa is the largest, oldest, and most famous high-IQ society in the world.[1][2][3] The not-for-profit organization restricts its membership to people with high testable IQs. Members must score at the 98th percentile or higher of a standardized, supervised intelligence test.[4][5] Mensa is formally composed of national groups and the umbrella organization Mensa International.
Mensa (pronounced /'m?ns?/; IPA: ['mensa] in Latin) means 'table' in Latin as is symbolized in the organization's logo.
I googled and I'm proud

Why in the world would you be embarrassed? When I was in 5th grade - that's what I wanted most in the world!!!!
edit: spelling

Ok, then my question to you is this: What do you GET from it? You have to pay yearly dues, and for what? Just the title and the free magazine? Or is there another benefit.

When I was in HS I really wanted to get into Mensa for college purposes. So I joined in the 11th grade. Yes, I got into really good schools, only to discover I couldn't $ for them.
Benefit now: I am not the prettiest girl, the thinnest girl, and I don't like my hair. BUT I am in Mensa, and not everyone can say that. However, I don't really tell people because people react wierd sometimes. That's why I said I am embarrassed to admit it sometimes.
