This is Scary

We went to the bank to deposit our checks today.
I made a joke that everyone should have given cash since it was so much easier to deposit.
The teller said that checks were better because they had a bride who had all the cash stolen from her bag on her wedding day

Could you imagine?

This is not the first time I heard this either...
At DH cousin's wedding, the grooms sister stole most of the money from the dollar dance..mind u they were not all dollar bills..somepeople gave 20s.

I could see that same situation happening at my wedding

oh no.
The best advice is do what I did or have a guard.

We went from table to table to meet and greet the guests and people gave their envelopes at that time. The only people left with my bag were my mom or his.

The part that I dont understand about stealing from someones wedding is this - youd think if someone stole your money bag, it would be the staff or a stranger that walked in. NOT your closest friends and family!!!!

my friends money bag was stolen from her wedding and thank god there was only a few envelopes in there yet. but she still lost all the wedding partys gifts and her parents and in laws

I also went table to table to thank eveyone for coming and thats when they handed us the envelopes..when we were done grandma stood guard, she didnt leave the table..LOL we tied the bag to her hand!!
You really do have to be careful, also, when at an event ALWAYS take your bag WITH you to ladies room, out to smoke, etc..Ive heard some stories of guests being 'robbed' too cuz they left thier bag hanging on chair!
People are crazy!!
