This is what I want in an mc:

Original post by CappyGirl

Can someone help me? FH and I are kind of reserved and we want to find an mc who will get that - not think that we want him to change us. Does that make sense? I met with one dj company this weekend who, when I told him that I don't like to dance, told me that I should take lessons . . . ummmm, I didn't say I can't dance, actually, I absolutely CAN dance, I just don't like to - that seemed to perplex him. Anyway, I am sure I am in the minority, but this is what I am desperately seeking in and from our ideal MC/DJ team:

1) not be heavy on the microphone or dancing at all with guests.
2) not yelling at guests to scream or dance, etc. I don't want anyone to feel assaulted by the mc
3) not to really speak at all besides making the required announcements

Any suggestions? TIA!!

Do you even need an MC then? Why not just have a Dj. I was under the impression that the MC was there to get things going and dance with people etc. If you dont need any of that then why pay the extra money?

i agree with the just getting a dj that way you can save money as well. an MC will be what you want them to be...you just have to tell them. at the same time, i understand that you are more low key and dont want a screaming MC but alot of people feed off that. the mc doesnt just try to hype up the bride and groom, its to hype up the whole party and guests might need that push to get out there and have a good time.
its kind of like picking out your entire playlist...just because you like/dislike songs doesnt mean your guests agree and sometime you have to sacrifice a little so that a majority of your guests will enjoy themselves. JMO

This is what we are doing. Our dj said he will get involved if he needs to (ie no one is dancing and people are staring at the door), but we have a pretty party hardy kind of crowd, so we don't need anything too over the top.

we are going with tommy tunes..

Sorry.. the above statement was written by my FH (he doesn't elaborate lolol)

When we sat down to talk with TT, they seemed like the kind of MC that would listen to what we wanted and would not be a pain in the a**!

I mean all 3 DJs we looked into (Bravo and bravaura too) all seemed that way. I think as long as you use a well recommended DJ you wont be disappointed!!

Look into Bravura....I thought they were so professional...like non of their mc's were the typical 20 yr old guy that u see at sweet 16's.
