Can someone help me? FH and I are kind of reserved and we want to find an mc who will get that - not think that we want him to change us. Does that make sense? I met with one dj company this weekend who, when I told him that I don't like to dance, told me that I should take lessons . . . ummmm, I didn't say I can't dance, actually, I absolutely CAN dance, I just don't like to - that seemed to perplex him. Anyway, I am sure I am in the minority, but this is what I am desperately seeking in and from our ideal MC/DJ team:
1) not be heavy on the microphone or dancing at all with guests. 2) not yelling at guests to scream or dance, etc. I don't want anyone to feel assaulted by the mc 3) not to really speak at all besides making the required announcements
Any suggestions? TIA!!

I'm so glad I'm not the only one!! We met with a few companys who are highly recommended on here, but the tapes we saw of events scared us a little.

just because a DJ does a high energy event doesn't make them incapable of being the more sedate type of MC you are looking for.
Perhaps give the DJ a playlist of the type of songs you like and tell them what kind of event you are looking for.
They may not have tapes or examples of the type of service you expect, but by talking to them you should be able to get a feel for if they understand what you want.

she used a company called DJ's Unlimited. They were good and it was important for her to find an italian speaking mc (which they had). For me this wasn't as important and so we ended up going with FM

we met with them as well. frank was very soft on the voice. he might fit your needs. they have really great prices!! the lowest we have seen

We met with Phil and really liked him, but the dvd seemed a little too much for us. We are looking for exactly what you are looking for, and it just wasn't 100% our style.
I'll recommend Vinny from High Voltage. He is SUPER low key...he said he will only talk at the specific times we ask him to. His prices are super reasonable, too. Give him a call!

Look into Bravura....I thought they were so professional...like non of their mc's were the typical 20 yr old guy that u see at sweet 16's.

My friend was the same way for her wedding. She used Tommy Tunes and they did exactly as she asked. The MC (can't remember his name) was very low-key, kept off the dance floor and only announced when he had to. I think anywhere you go, they should listen to you and be able to accommodate.

Exactly. You can definitely get just the DJ - he will make all the formal announcements. You don't need an MC
