BOSTON, Jan. 15 — Surgical teams accidentally leave clamps, sponges and other tools inside about 1,500 patients nationwide each year, according to the biggest study of the problem yet. The mistakes largely result not from surgeon fatigue, but from the stress arising from emergencies or complications discovered on the operating table, the researchers reported

An x-ray shows a clamp left inside the belly of a 59-year-old male patient after surgery. Surgical teams accidentally leave clamps, sponges and other tools inside about 1,500 patients nationwide each year, according to a new study.

I saw a banner about this story this morning. I agree with kptoy that its a very low percentage for the number of surgies that take place in a year but it should be 0!

Long Island, Jan.17 - 122 brides on Long Island gather to share views, opinions and wins prizes. Approx. 120 leave all their prizes behind for the staff of LIWeddings.com to enjoy. This prize leaving behind trend has brides across the country concerned that it may spread to their home town. This trend is largely due to the future brides stress, fatigue and a sincere love for the website's owners. Pictures are unavailable at present because the LIWeddings staff took them to Jamaica! Acording to one study 1600 brides across the nation have left their prizes behind for others to enjoy. Again, comments and photos are unavailable in the U.S. But, can be viewed at island vacation spots across the globe.
