This may be a stupid question, but...
Has anyone ordered food through the mail? For example: Harry&David... The stuff looks AMAZING. How do they keep it fresh for shipping???

We had ordered Omaha steaks. They came in a small cooler with dry ice in it and the food was all sealed in plastic (it looks like it was sealed with a Foodsaver machine) The quality of meat was very good.

FIL's get Omaha steaks all the time. They are packed in dry ice. I've just had fruit from Harry & David. All of the above are yummy. ETA- by 'above' I meant fruit & steaks- I hadn't seen your pictures. They look yummy too.

Yes we order off catalogs ALL the time Harry & David especially We use it here in the office as gifts for clients or other employees as a job well done. My old office used to send us (employees) Harry & David gift baskets for Xmas.. Good stuff!

I've sent Williams Sonoma candy to friends before and they liked it. My father used to get fruit of the month club and it was fantastic.

Re: This may be a stupid question, but...
With harry & david they ship the fruit out before it's ripened so it will be by the time you get it. Not all of it is timed to ripen at once. Some is almost ripe and some is just ripe. the fruit wrapped in paper when you get it is not ripe yet. sometimes they screw up though. you can call and ask for another basket from H&D since I think they guarantee freshness. I've ordered irish food online and had it shipped. They pack it frozen and in dry ice.
