Today I went to my Mom's house to do a few things but MAINLY to check on the RSVPs as they are going to her house. I also check her answering machine in case any important messages come and/or someone needs some information. Upon checking the messages, Mom recieved a phone call from the dry cleaner that there is a tuxedo she hasn't picked up since April of 2004 and that if it wasn't picked up by a certain time, it would be donated to charity.
That was my father's tuxedo and the last time he used it was for my cousin's Bar Mitzvah. It was the last time my father used that tux and the same day FH met my entire family. Now normally, I'd be saying 'Oh Mom doesn't remember things well.' OR 'I can't believe she waited so long to get this thing.' But I am thinking 'WHY did I go to the house and WHY is this call coming in NOW?'
The first thing I thought was 'I guess Daddy is telling me he wants to come or that he will be there'
My wedding is BLACK TIE.
I am not a very spiritual person nor am I a religious fanatic but during the entire process of planning this wedding, I said to myself, I hope there is some sort of sign (or signs) that my father will be at the wedding. People are always saying 'His spirit will be with you and I know that but I was looking for something more definitive. I think this was the first sign. I may be reaching but I'm going to go with it as Dad's RSVP.

I was ok actually. I remember how he looked when he wore it and it gave me a sense of peace I need so badly.

I know your wedding is close and that most of the tuxes have been rented, but maybe your FH would wear your dads tux at the wedding? Or maybe an uncle or someone out of respect and memory of your father. I think it would be VERY touching and a nice way to remember your father.

i have been getting wierd signs like that from my dad since we got engaged... it really does make me feel better! Im so happy that you got one too... i totally understand!

I called my sister in Dallas and she wants Mom to decide what to do with it. I think we will end up donating it.

Thats beautiful Leslie. And I'm sure it was a sign of some kind, letting you know your Dad is checking in And what a great time for him to do so, with your mom so far away and you so worried about her.
Reminds me when my Nana passed away, we were clearing out her things from my aunts house. A few months later, we found a hat of hers in the dining room on top of the china closet. (huge straw sun hat with a sunflower on it- her signature flower) My aunt went to take it down, and the lights flickered. She stopped. Thought it was nothing... well since then, she's tried two more times to take it down and the same thing has happened. And that hat will continue to be on top of the china closet, as it always was after Nana wore it. She obviously wants it there

Wow... My philosophy in life has been that everything happens for a reason and I have no doubt that this was a true sign that your dad will most definetely be looking over you on your wedding day...

I am so into signs too! I belive there was a reason for him to call and for you to pick up the message no less. Talk about weird! What a great story thanks for sharing.
