A couple of weeks ago I posted that I was promoted and moving into a new position within my firm. I knew I'd be busy and that I wouldn't be able to post as often but this is RIDICULOUS. During Halloween week, I didn't leave my office before 7:40pm any evening. On Halloween night, I left the city at 9:40pm. I'm happy with my new title and salary but I don't know how much of this I can take. I'm getting total burn-out. I could barely move off my couch yesterday.
Sorry, I just needed to vent for a minute.

Re: This new job is killing me!!!!!
I don't know if this will help, but I've found getting into work early (like really early, before anyone else) really offsets the work load during the day, and in the evenings. Getting here before everyone else keeps people off my back and I get more done before 8:30AM than the entire day. It's quiet, no phone calls....much more peaceful.

Sorry to hear that, Firegal. Hang in there. Maybe once you get used to your new responsibilities you won't have to put as much time in??
When it comes down to it, it's just work and there are SO many much more important things in life and it's important to have balance. I know it sounds trite, but it's true!
Do you have an assistant that you can pass some work off to?

Re: This new job is killing me!!!!!
Thanks Misty but the earliest I can get in is 8:30am (which I've been doing). I take in the express bus and unfortunately it only runs during rush hours (when I work past 9:00pm my company gives me a town car home). I don't mind staying late (because it's quiet) but not EVERY single night. I have to speak with my boss about getting me a back-up person since I'm the only person in the whole firm that does my job right now.

Re: This new job is killing me!!!!!
Dietz, I have an assistant but she supports 3 other officers and can't dedicate all of her time to me.
As far as getting used to my responsibilities - I thought that was part of it but the woman I replaced was here until all hours and came in on weekends. She was doing this job for 4 years- That's why she ended up leaving!!! Of course I found this all out AFTER I accepted the position.

Oh, sorry! Definitely speak to your boss, then. Hope it gets better soon!
