This should be fun, wait, probably not!

I'm now going to embark on the big quest to find a church to get married at. Wrinkle in the plans? FH is a through and through Catholic. I'm a Lutheran that's only been baptized. I'd like to get married at the Lutheran Church down the road from me (it's very beautiful and where I was baptized), FH could probably care less. But since I'm not all the way indoctrinated I foresee possible problems there. And then there's the whole he's not a Lutheran at all thing. And I'm not Catholic so we don't know what his church is going to come up with. So I'm shooting feelers out to 'my' (term used loosely) and his church today to see what the hoops are going to look like and if it's even possible at either. Nervous!

FH is Catholic and so am I, but he was baptized Lutheran. My church didn't have any problems at all. Most of the time if one is Catholic and has gone through all the sacraments, it's ok if the FI isn't Catholic. But some churches aren't that good about it

FH was raised Lutheran and I know they are waaay more laid back haha. If we weren't getting married at the venue, I would def go to a Lutheran church instead. Actually the Luther pastor at their church would have even come to the RH and marry us if we wanted.
As for getting married in a Catholic Church, I didn't even look into it because FH made all his sacraments as Lutheran. Some churches are probably OK with it though. His best friend got married in a small Irish Catholic church though and the priest wouldn't let him receive Communion
Good luck!! Hopefully your church cooperates!

SOme churches are strict while others don't care as long as you give a nice gift!

I don't know about the Lutheran church, but from what I understand as long as you promise to raise your kids catholic you can get married at the church.

We are both Catholic and I know that if one person is not Catholic you can get married in a Catholic church however you can not have a full mass.

If anyone gives you a hard time and you need church to marry you, the Methodist Church is very lax. I am Catholic, FH is not and when I called the church it was like I was commiting this awful sin and really was put off as to how they reacted and the whole thing the priest had said to me so I decided to look into other options. I just didn't like being made feel like I was making this terrible choice (esp. since FH is so great about everything and is willing to do whatever). I wanted the person marrying us to support our relationship and I definitely have found that in the Methodist church. They were so nice about everything and were really responsive from day one.
