If this is the case, then start searching for positions online try craigslist or NYTimes in the market ads. I know this is difficult, easier said then done since millions are looking for jobs right now in NY. if you feel this instinct creeping in..it's usually right. However, I hope that is not the case for you but it's better to be safe than unprepared for the worse. Start looking now so that you can go on interviews and have a back-up incase that happens.

For now, takes things one day at a time. Don't drive yourself crazy with booking vendors esp if you have a year from now. Unless your wedding is taking place 7 months from now, don't drive yourself nuts. Your first priority is to lower your stress & anxiety with employment. Once it is taken care of, slowly look through & go through all of your vendors and try to cut down unnecessary costs. For ex. reduce guests list (limit to family members, relatives, close friends), network (ask around for referrals or if you happen to have friends who can style and do make-up, ask for a trial and see if they can do it for you on your wedding day, etc.), stick with locals (florists, culinary academies/catering schools, independent photographers/video/film editors, bakers, etc.) who will charge way less than businesses, sample sales (gowns, accessories, etc.), DIY projects and so forth.

I understand it is difficult, I've been through unemployment at one point myself. It happened a year before our wedding. It was very stressful & difficult since most of our vendors were booked. I was trying to find work and relied mostly on savings and unemployment assistance/benefits to get by as well as DH, it is something very painful and unpleasant. However, if you start to look now and prepare yourself it'll be less of a shock later on as opposed to waiting it out.

Best of luck & wishes,
Christine

First of all, is it possible for you to move your wedding? If you're worried about getting laid off, maybe you can move it back to December or Novemeber when the price per head drops significantly? Or if you want a Sept. wedding, do it in the afternoon.

Also, maybe you can open a savings account...and instead of just paying the deposits- save save save (you'll need money for the day of as well!)

I'm sorry about your job. I'm in a similiar position and it scks. the whole economy scks. Just get your resume out there.
