Is it true that your final payment at the hall cannot be charged???? If this is true, that would be INSANE....It just doesn't make sense. What if we are counting on the gifts to pay back our credit cards with!!!!! Anyone have info on this?

Re: This was just brought to my attention
I was told (and it's in my contract) that the last payment can be made by certified check ONLY. I don't know about any other halls, though.

I couldn't use credit cards for any of my payments to the Swan Club. Big Bummer, I really wanted the Sky Miles.

Re: This was just brought to my attention
We had to pay cash or certified check.
I am sure they do not want the risk of a dissatisfied customer disputing the charges subsequent to the wedding.
Call you catering manager or check your contract but we got the same information from all the catering places we looked at.

Re: This was just brought to my attention
The halls want cash or certified check (which means the money is definitely there, and check won't bounce) because if it is credit card, you can always call the credit card company and cancel the sale right before the wedding. I guess it's insurance on their part.

Sorry hon, it's true! Most places will only accept final payements in the form of money order or certified check.

Re: This was just brought to my attention
You do have to pay cash or certified check. BUT...if you need to pay by credit card you will have to take a cash advance on the card. I've done it a few times and then paid it back. It only takes a few minutes to do at any bank. Hope this helps!

Re: This was just brought to my attention
I was told all my payments need to be made either by cash, check or certified check. I am going to use the credit card for the HM.

Re: This was just brought to my attention
Princess-- check your contract, our contract says the final payment may only be made by cash or certified check. THis is because its due one week prior and a check may not have cleared before the wedding date so they cant take the cance

Cash or certified check for me also. You shouldn't be counting on your gifts to pay for your reception.
