This was not an easy RSVP response

This was not an easy RSVP response

My Japanese boss just e-mailed me that he and his wife are thrilled to be invited to our wedding, as this will be the first American wedding they will attend.

He did ask if his children could attend, especially his daughter would like to see an American wedding, but understands if the formality does not allow it. I had to explain to him that no children have been invited, not so much because of the formality, but at the request of FH's cousins who wanted to attend an adult function without their children in tow.

I feel badly, but how can I let his children attend and not others ? Other than my niece and nephew, there would be 17 additional children.
That would be a lot of chicken fingers and FF.

Don't sweat it. I'm sure he'll understand. That's probably why he asked!

Be thankful that he had the courtesy to ask first. I think he'll understand.

ditto with the others----he already said he understands---so don't feel bad. he asked, you explained, he understood.

end of story--no harm, no foul

He already said he understood if 'formality' didn't allow... you could give him the option of telling him to bring his daughter to the ceremony and experience that.

Totally agree. Don't worry about it! I'm sure he understands.

I think the way he asked sounded like he would understand if you said no...besides, most children don't really enjoy sitting through weddings!
