Re: Thomasville vs. Ethan Allen...

For the most part they both offer very good quality furniture.

My dining room is from Thomasville (Martinque) and I love it. I fell in love with a bedroom set from them but unfortunately when I was ready to order it was discontinued 2 days earlier and couldn't find anything else from them I liked.

I find in Ethan Allen and Thomasville - while I love some of their stuff - many of their styles have a lot of detail and I am more a clean lines types of person when it comes to furniture. Although I have seen a few things lately in the window of Ethan Allen which I may inquire about when I get to furnishing my living room.

I like that bedroom set alot - but since I already had the dining room set - I didn't want to do the same. I am considering the Martinique living room furnishings since my dining room and living room flow together....they are one of the few Thomasville sets that have a real nice entertainment center too.

Re: Thomasville vs. Ethan Allen...

Every piece of furniture in my home is from Ethan Allen and we love it!!! When we moved in, we had NOTHING except the minimum (a sofa with the cushions ripped to shreds from our puppies, thank god they grew out of that before we bought the new furniture!)

We had an interior designer come over and design the layout, where to put everything, the wall colors, the fabrics...at no extra charge. Our home was difficult because it's an open floor plan, so I had a hard time visualizing where sofas should go, since there were no walls to put them up against.

Let me know if you want the name of the woman I used from Ethan Allen.

Re: Thomasville vs. Ethan Allen...

I also just wanted to tell you about Ethan Allen's service...THey are EXCELLENT!

One of our pedestal tables was chipping for some reason...we called them up, they came took a pic of if and said that we'd get a brand new table, they just exchanged it!

My husband also knicked up two chairs in our dining room (he's very rough on furniture, smacking stuff around, into tables, etc,..let's just say he's not the most suave man around )...anyway, Ethan Allen service came by a few times to touch up the knicks...for free.

The service is EXCELLENT!

Re: Thomasville vs. Ethan Allen...

Kathy116 - I would be interested in hearing more about the interior design service of Ethan Allen....one reason I am avoiding my living room is I have no clue how to layout the furnishings - I know they do do that but never heard someone who used the service...please tell me more - FM if you like.

My friend should speak with your service people because the experience with repairs she is having is very different than yours. Actually she said her dresser came unfinished and rough and she is having on hell of a time dealing withthe service dept.
