We're donating to the Elsasser Fund which helps families of FDNY firefighters who die while not in the line of duty.

We're going to make the donation based on what we would have spent on favors. Since they are an exempt organization, whatever donation we give, my company will match up to a certain amount as well.

We donated to the Make A Wish foundation after seeing this heart-wrenching special at about 2am one night. Anything else we'd contemplated went right out the window.

American Heart Association - my brother was recently diagnosed with congestive heart failure. It was very easy and they printed out the scrolls.

We're donating to the American Cancer Society b/c cancer has hit both of our families hard, and the Chron's and Colytis Foundation in memory of one of FH friends we lost earlier this year.

We are going to donate whatever we would have spent on traditional favors to each.

we donated to the lance armstrnog cancer fund... my dad is a cancer survivor and dh and i each have several cancer survivors ni our families, too... we gave each person one of the yellow 'livestrong' bracelets with a little tin of mints and a note saying ' to honor our loved ones affected by cancer, a donation has been made... '
the bracelets were $1 so we donated an additinoal dollar per person on top of that...

Re: Those doing Donation Favors

We donated to the American Cancer Society. I've lost my aunt and uncle within a year of each other, FH lost his grandfather and right now my grandfather is battling cancer. I really wanted to do this after I lost my uncle this year. To me, it didn't make sense to get items that people probably have from other weddings that they won't use or throw away. At least this way, its going to good use. We paid $3 pp and we also got the scrolls. Along with the donation, we are giving out heart shaped boxes filled with M & M's.
