I just started Yaz maybe about 3 weeks ago and have never been on any form of BC beforehand. A friend of mine who's using the same BCP told me that it's essential to take it at the same exact time every night. So if usually have it at 8pm, I MUST make sure i take it every night between the hours of 7 & 9.
Now I'm just wondering - with the time change, what do i do?? I usually have it at 8 pm. Now that we set our clocks back, do i change that to 9 pm??? Sooo confused. lol.
Also, I'm moving to Colorado after the wedding where there's a 2 hours time difference. So if I'm taking it at 8pm in NY, that means I've gotta move it to 6pm in Co?? I suppose i couldn't just keep it at 8:00.
I think I'm soooo confused on it, because I'm terrified of getting pregnant before I'm ready. Anytime within this first year would feel like the absolute worst thing ever. So I'm really trying to stay on top of this.
Please, somebody give me some words of wisdom - how do i use these BCPs with the time change?

Re: Those girls on BC!!!
With the time change I just changed the time that I take my BC. After you get your period when you start the fresh batch you can switch it to a time that would work better for you when you move to Colorado.

Re: Those girls on BC!!!
Ive been on it for about 7 years now and majority of the time I didnt take it at the same time. I dont think you will get pregnant that easily just because you took it two hours earlier or later than you should have. Ive even had times where I took it in the morning one day and at night the next. Its more risky when you miss one and double up or miss two and double up two days in a row. Thats where you should worry about getting pregnant. Ive been good the 7 years Ive been on it so I think Im doing something right

try to take it every 24 hours, its the most effective that way....if you go longer than 24 hours you risk the chance of ovulating.....i am on a very low does pill and my doc said the lower the dose the more important it is to take on time - especially if you are heavier....for me, he said its not so bad because i am very tiny, but the heavier you are also can have an effect

Re: Those girls on BC!!!
same here...when the time changes i just take it at 24 hour interval (regardless of the time change) because your body is still on its own timing (if that makes sense).
its not super horrible if ure off by an hour or 2...u dont HAVE to take it at the exact same time to be effective...they just recommend it for optimum protection.
and i agree...when u move to colorado start the new pack at the time u want to take them and u should be fine...at least that's what i would do.

I didn't realize that you could switch to a new time when beginning a new month on it. That's good news
Thanks everybody for your advice. I guess I'll just keep it at 8:00 even with the time change.

Yeah just double check with your doctor if you want to be sure. For me my doc told me I could and I have had no problems.
