Hi, Those of you who are going to Italy for HM, did you use a travel agent? If so, do you have any recommendations? The travel agent we spoke to wanted a $150 'planning fee...' Is this normal? Any recommendations? Thanks :)

The planning fee sounds like BS to me. Before going to a travel agent, it might be a good idea to do some research on the internet and maybe get a book on Italy like Frommer's. I did a bunch of research before seeing a TA for our HM to Greece. Italy sounds like a great place for a HM. It's gorgeous. Have fun.

No way ---they never ask for a planning fee, and yes you should def. book through an agent to get the best rates on hotels etc.

We booked a regular Italy vacation (not a HM) - we priced it all out through 2 travel agents, then we went online and got cheaper rates by either a) calling the hotels directly, or b) booking at hotels.com. Flight was even cheaper online.
It involved a little legwork, we saved thousands!

They definitely shouldn't charge you. They get kick backs from the airlines and hotels. Total BS!!!!!
