those HMing in Mexico

FH and I just decided that is where we are going, but neither of us have been before or know a lot about it. Where are you staying? How much are you spending for how many days? And, if you used a travel agent or website, who/which one?

TIA for the help! I always know LIW will give me the best info!!

We're going to Occidental Royal Hideway Playacar - Mayan Riviera, Mexico

Staying 7 days, 6 nights

Spending approximately $4,500
All Inclusive - includes tour of ruins

We're booking through Janet at Simplicity Travel - a vendor on here.

I'll bump the Honeymoon Thread for ya to get some other ideas.

Were staying at Secrets Excellence in the Mayan Riveria for 8 nights and 9 days...it's an all inclusive resort which is brand new (built one year ago) and all I hear are excellent reviews about the resort...our honeymoon is costing us $6000.00

We are going to Golden Crown Spa Paradise in Cancun for 5 nights, all inclusive (but we will do a tour to the ruins, which is extra). We are paying around $2800 including airfare...

We stayed in Zihuatanejo- it's on the West coast approx 150 miles north of acapulco.

We stayed in a boutique hotel for $199 a night- 7 nights- great place- no kids allowed only 6 suites in the entire place. Beautiful pool, poolside bar and about 1 minute walk to the beach.

The hotel was $1400 and the airfare was $2k.. (this was in January which is their peak season).

We went to Royal Hideaway as well. For 9 days...spent less than that and had the 'Romance Package'....not sure about prices now though. We booked with Hayley at Beach Bum Vacation more info and reviews can be found on my posted review...link here.

This should help with Mexico:

The Riviera Maya (also known as the Yucatan Peninsula) is the 'towns' that the Mayans lived in around the beach...hence the term 'Riviera' they are:

Cancun
Playa del Carmen
Akumal
Cozumel
Tulum
and others...see map below...the difference is that some parts face the Caribean Sea (Playa del Carmen, Tulum, Cozumel) and others have lagoons or face the Gulf

Here's a link if you guys want to learn more about it, I just don't want anyone being mis-informed and making decisions based on non-facts. Have a great trip!

Travel Yucatan

Before deciding on a hotel, I recommend going to TripAdvisor.com and reading up on them...good luck!

Thanks ~ all great suggestions. Map and website on the different areas of Mexico are great! I have some research to do...

Keep the ideas coming if there are any others going to Mexico for their HM!

we went to Royal Hideaway for 8 days 7 nights. Spent about $4300, including airfare (but sounds like SomethingBlu got the best deal since she stayed for 9 days)

our TA was Tom at American Express Travels-he was great! [email protected]

Dh's cousin went to Secrets Excellence, around the same time as we did, for 7 days and spent $3500 and booked through Travelocity and got a suite. They loved it there as well!
