i did a slipper basket...which is a basket filled with slippers up by the dj booth for any female guests to take if they're feet hurt..i wrote a cute little poem with them too i also had a poloroid guest book(guest(s) take photos & attach to where they sign)...also instead of table numbers I gave each table the word 'love' in a different language..so instead of 'table 13' they were seated at 'Amore' which was kinda neat hmmm what else...i also had christmas carolers in my cocktail hour!

that is not entirely true. i've been to many weddings that were so run of the mill...it almost becomes boring because it is so routine. i went to a wedding this past October and they had little 'touches'. they had a cake that was iced like a checkerboard and checkerboard favors cuz thats how they met with a background poem to let you know that, they had the jordan almonds with the history of why they are associated with a wedding. they gave out starbucks coffee and mints as you left the wedding because thats one of their favorite past times and a little poem to explain that as well.
i thought everything was so cute that i tell everyone about their wedding and they have inspired me to do little 'touches' to my wedding also

I am doing a Slipper Basket, Candy Bar, Bubbles instead of petals (FH and I always think of bubbles from childhood and still play with them), Favors, Jordan Almonds (well maybe not almonds) but something in these other favor bags, and I want to make CD's to hand out at the end of the night with songs on it that were some of my guests wedding songs however I have NEVER made the covers, labels and such so I am having a hard time with this one.

Oh wait... Doing Signature drinks... and a Wish Bowl instead of Guest Book.

i agree that the little extras do mean A LOT. i def want to have those little touches at my wedding. it makes your wedding stand out and even if you just remember it ... it makes ur day that much more special for you. if anyone has any more ideas i would appreciate them

Re: Those little Cute Extras...

I think the little touches do make a wedding stand out and less run of the mill...I went to a wedding 3 yrs ago that had a candy bar, little yankee helmets for ice cream and other touches and I thought they were great

(this was way before I was even thinking about my own wedding so it wasnt that I noticed bc I was planning)

its funny but so true. And all of us brides will drive ourselves nuts beforehand with all the little details regardless, i was guilty of that too.

Honestly, that day not even you will pay attention to all those small details. Its the bigger picture you will be looking at. Before all i thought about were the small details. The week before my wedding i stopped caring. The only things on my mind were 'i am marrying my best friend' all i thought about was the ceremony, us exchanging vows and having an amazing time with my new husband at the reception and all our loved ones.

But no matter what, beforehand all brides to be will still worry about all the details.

I did have some people though notice the small touches, and another thing is that it does come out great in pics. You wont think about every little thing the day of but you think of it more as a whole and the whole picture of everything you did. Alot of people did take our table numbers which were our e-pics with the number on it in a frame, people even took our table runners that i made.

Can you tell us more about your wedding? Your colors? flowers? theme? ceremony setting? reception setting?

I agree. I think if you want to make a memorable wedding put the money you would spend on all those 'little extras' to having better food/RH and a good band. People always talk about the food, and band, not the DJ or bubbles or slippers or programs or menus. That is what makes the party. If you choose a run-of-the mill RH you will get a run-of-the mill wedding no matter what you add to it.

Sometimes I find those little extras a little too cheesy, be careful about how much you do and what you do. Sometimes more is not better. JMO

The one little added extra I might do is plain white oriental fans since I am having an outdoor ceremony at the end of June.

I don't understand the need for programs, menus and any of that other stuff. Its wasted money that could be added to a better RH!

Sorry for sounding sooo rude but I see so many girls looking to keep costs down for the most important part of the day, the catering and music, and then waste hundreds on all these added extras to try and make up for the run-of-the mill caterers.

Agreed, yes once you are engaged and go to a wedding you notice these things-otherwise you dont pay attention. YOU wont even pay attention to it the day of

I personally think its 50/50 some things people will use and some wont but I guarantee you spend more money and they get no use then actually get used

I am doing Welcome bags to the people that stay in the hotel. I will include tylenol/water some snacks, gum & got 2 oz cream bottles from Bath & body works. They were $1- each. It's a great Welcoming idea.

I really thought about this and decided to do ONLY things that showed our personalities. We are having a band (not different but a big splurge) bc we love live music, cigar roller (big cigar lovers in the fam including FH), donating to Make-A-Wish as favor (big advocate).

i did programs and menu's and loved it. I do agree about adding extras at the rh though if you can. I did add alot of extras, sometimes i think too much lol but its over with now. We had the seafood bar, viennese, martini bar and other things. It is true that i hear more about those things that such things as the programs or menu's.

Everyone is different so to each their own.

i didnt' do to much because i was broke, but i really worked on my program and people noticed that. i made menus for the table. people also liked the favor ( a donation to the cancer society in memory of DH's Mom).

what made my wedding memorable for people was the personality behind my Mass (we had a famiyl friend say the Mass and all my friends were the musicians) so people really remembered how personal and unique our Mass was and that didnt' cost anything!

Re: Those little Cute Extras...

The little things are what is most memorable other than the food and the music and of course the ceremony its self. Im doing a slipper basket, lighting according to my flower colors, spotlights on the CP's, liquor cups that light up when liquid is placed in the cup but turn off once you drink whats inside, or 'icecubes' that light up to put in margaritas, and for the ones that dont drink, straws that have glowsticks in them and when they drink from the straw the glow in the straw goes up as so does the liquid making it seem as if they are drinking a hot pink (my primary color)drink. Also at the end of the night we will be giving away our center piece to one lucky person at each of our tables where there is a center piece.
