It is on our minds constantly and is the source of all disagreements and stress in our lives.

We have been selling things on ebay and putting money in a wedding fund immediately after we get paid. There is a set amount that goes in each month - I try to treat it like a government issued bill so there are no excuses for not paying it!

We sometimes look at what we have and we honestly dont know how we are going to pull it off. I guess we are hoping a miracle will happen soon.

government issued bill

so true!!!

As soon as we got engaged, we set a budget, which included estimates for tips, taxes and delivery (when applicable). We decided we would not budge unless absolutely necessary- like with the officant. I had no idea how much it cost, so I put in $100. Boy was I shocked. But that hasn't happened again, so we are okay, and sticking to the budget.

Thank goodness both of us are savers, so it has helped...As soon as we got engaged, we started setting our half of our paychecks away...Considering we have almost a 2 year engagement, it helps in the saving process...We did a tenative budget & see that we will have well more then we actually need for the wedding saved by the time we need it!

Well, at this moment we are barely scraping by. The wedding itself will be paid for, no problem. The honeymoon on the other hand is going to be difficult. Our wedding budget was $12K and since April we have been putting away $1000 per month so that adds up perfectly. We are paying for everything without getting into debt and we both know that we are getting a certain amount of money oon the day of the wedding, enough to cover the entire cost. So we will be ok.

UGHHH! This is the most stressful of all. I live with my FH and between rent, apartment bills, 2 car bills, school loan bills, bills, bills, and more bills we can hardly save. We save what we can but I agonize about it constantly. I think we are going to be short though. People have said to just charge the honeymoon and use the money from the wedding. I hate to do that though. Oh well. We'll see.

Fh and I are excited because we'll have the wedding paid off before October. We'll actually be able to use the gifts we receive for ourselves and not our vendors. FH is VERY organized when it comes to money. We had a payment plan to our 'wedding fund' and it worked out wonderfully.

Unfortunately FH has not been able to contribute a dime. He makes a decent salary, but is paying off student loans, credit card debt from before he met me, and a car he can't afford. It makes all the responsibility for payments fall on me, on top of the downpayment for our mortgage. I saved a lot working on Wall Street for a year, but took a big pay cut to work on Long Island....I don't know, I am very stressed about how I will pay for it and the fact that he isn't sharing in the responsibility is making me very resentful.

We have the money for the wedding. but that leaves less for the honeymoon. We are VERY stressed out about it. The honeymoon is more important to me that all the details of the wedding. We will have to use some of the wedding money for the honeymoon (Which I was vehemently against, but its either that or cancel or diminish the honeymoon even more than we already did).

It is very scary, as I am meeting with my vendors to start paying things off, I understand!! But as my mom says, we are only doign this one and the issues are only over $1000- $2500 so in the grand scheme of things, its not too much. I also got a new job with a $35,000 pay increase and hopefully I will get a decent raise and bonus come Christmas time. I am also waiting on my tax return.

We have the money due to inheritance -- not my choice, but it does help pay the bills. I do worry still because I don't want to just blow our savings on a big party. Yet, it seems like everywhere you look there is another expense that can't be avoided.

We have some money saved but right now we hate the place we are renting so we are in contract for a condo. So the money saved is our downpayment/closing costs. Now we start all over with a lot of overtime and living off pasta until the wedding.

I have a very strict personal budget and with just what I have alread and am able to put away by the wedding (not incl. his contribution), we will be ok - but it is still stressful thinking about 'what if's?' Because I am so anal retentive, I also have tried to think of every expense and track it very closely. My FH thinks I'm a freak, but he'll be glad I did it in the end. Our only concern is will be be living in a brown paper bag by the time we get home from the HM!?!?!

My FH is more stressed about this than I am.
It is pretty nerve wrackign becasue I feel liek I can't do anything until this is over. We're also putting a down payment down on a condo so that adds to the stress of it all.

I have a feeling I'm going to be busting open some envelopes on my wedding night to pay for some stuff!

We are in a panic as well ... We are paying for everything ourselves and in the process of buying a home to live in..So that means no honeymoon ... I am working 2 jobs and FH is doing overtime and we will still be short. I was thinking if downsizing the guest list even more.

If I had known before I started all this I would have planned a destination wedding so I could have a honeymoon...

Maybe liweddings will help out a few brides by adding a contest of some sort??

We just save. We watched Oprah's show on how cutting out the little things can save you big bucks....so we bring our lunch, I bring tea/juice in the am instead of buying it from my cafeteria at work, and we eat out much less than we used to, and hardly ever go out...EVER! But its ok. We'll just save and have a glorious day to show for it next year! YEAH!

we set up a budget early on in an excel spreadsheet and we put $ each month into our joint account. of course we were over budget on some things, but under on others. somehow we all find a way!
