For those who have been to Mystic, where did you stay? and where did you eat? DH is taking me there for my 30th birthday and I am trying to gather as much information as possible for a wonderful weekend.

Re: Those That Have Been To Mystic
We stayed at the Inn At Mystic - had a pretty room with a jacuzzi.
But we found Mystic TOTALLY BORING. We ate dinner someplace AWFUL (I don't remember what it was called). The weekend would have been a total waste had we not headed to Foxwoods the next day.
ETA: We went when it was cold ... the aquarium was open and we went but there really wasn't anything else to do.

The aquarium is really cool....The seaport was nice too but we didnt want to pay $18 a person to get in so we just looked around the main entrance and walked around but we werent allowed to go on any of the ships...not a loss.
The aquarium is worth it though. We had a great time there and we also went into old mystic and ate lunch at a steak house and got chocolate covered bananas yummy.
This was a few years ago....We stayed at the rooftop inn I think. We got an excellent price at turbotrip.com i think.
The inn is closer to foxwoods, and they supplied a free ride to foxwoods via a limo.
NYLisa... I went there with FH for a day and we had tons of fun, but we only were there for the day, it was warm and the first thing we found was the fudge shop!
Have you tried the Mystic websites?

Re: Those That Have Been To Mystic
DH & I went there for my 30th b-day a few weeks ago. We stayed at the Howard Johnson. It was pretty inexpensive.
We stayed two days and went to the aquarium, Olde Mystic Village, went shopping for antiques...walked around downtown Mystic (some places were closed for the season). We spent most of the 2nd day walking around the Old Mystic Seaport. Prices are lowered during the off-season. It was $24.00 for the two of us. Although it was winter and pretty cold we had a nice time. We were looking for a quiet weekend away, though.
Like others said, Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun are not too far away. So you can always go up there.
Happy Birthday!

Thanks everyone. My b-day is not until July so by that time all the shops will be open. We are looking for a quiet weekend away too so I think this might be perfect.

If you are going in the summer there will definitely be more to do. Enjoy!

Re: Those That Have Been To Mystic
We went at the end of December to the Mystic area (actually, Norwich, but we went all over the place)...it was wonderful!
You can go to Mohegan Sun or Foxwoods (they are about 10-15 min. away... if you want to treat yourself to a nice spa day, go to the Marriot in Mystic, they have an Elizabeth Arden Red Door Spa that's wonderful.
The photo in my avatar is from the Mystic Aquarium.

Re: Those That Have Been To Mystic
We had a yummy Italian Meal at Tuscany, which is in the Mohegan Sun Casino...it's right under the waterfall...very nice ambiance.
Ask the hotel Concierge for the best restaurants, they always give good recommendations.
I can't remember where else we ate, I know a few nights we made dinner in our room (we had a cute kitchen, etc.)

Re: Those That Have Been To Mystic
Dh and i went in december for my birthday and had a really great weekend. i loved the shops in Olde Mystick Village . We had a fabulous meal at Captain Daniel Packer Inne (supposedly the 'best' restaurant in mystic). We also went to the aquarium which was ok ... 'just an aquarium' IMO (worth going to, though!). the seaport was interesting as well, and definitely will be even nicer in july! we stayed at The Steamboat Inn and were very pleased with our room, the service, and the location. of course we went to Mystic Pizza which was a 'just for the fun of it' sorta place. We also went to a cider mill and had fresh hot apple cider! Let me know if you have any questions!

We went to Mystic and I loved it! We stayed in Groton, CT (10-15 min. drive to mystic and casinos) We went to Mohegan Sun, Foxwoods, The aquarium, and the village. We had a great time. We ate our meals @ the casinos so I really dont know of any restaurants...WAIT..Remember the movie Mystic Pizza?? We ate there for lunch one day! It was excellent!
