I brought up the idea for approval to hall and they thought guest could get hurt, sew, etc.....I AM NOT HAPPY & will to trial...but want to hear if any of you had a problem?
If you use tealights they do not get too hot. My hall said no, too.

Re: those who DID candle placecards....
How did you cut the vellum so that you had a straight edge at the top and bottom and ends? I tested mine yesterday and it was all uneven.

Re: those who DID candle placecards....
well, i burnt it and it did not get that hot....not to the point where you'd get burnt...if somone actually thought it was hot...blow it out, or leave it on the table. I have no kids,,,,so I AM DOING IT!!!
To cut it straight (jenn did a brief candle making 101 class for me) You wrap the vellum around the candle, but don't tape it yet. Push it up alittle above the glass, trace a line with a pencil above the glass, cut the vellum, rewrap and tape.

Re: those who DID candle placecards....
Jenny thanks for the tip. How old are your guests-5? Its not like people will be drunk during the cocktail hour ya know? Maybe you should go there and show them what you are doing so they understand how simple the holder is. I am having CB light the candles towards the end of the cocktail hour. So people won't have to pick them up at the beginning and walk around with them along with the plates in their hands.

Re: those who DID candle placecards....
Jenny, I had my place, light them right BEFORE the guests entered the room, end of cocktail hour, they weren't hot at all.

Re: those who DID candle placecards....
Jenny, I was working on mine last week. I burned them for four hours with tea lights and they don't get very hot until they have been burning for a few hours. Your guests will be fine as long as you do as Jennbaby suggested, which is to have your hall light them right before the cocktail hour ends.
Also, I made a template out of thick paper. So when I print them out I place the template underneath the vellum and cut around that. You could wrap each one around the candle, cut it and then re-wrap it, but I think that will take A LOT more time. It took me about an hour to get the template right. But now when I cut them out it is very quick.

Becky not bad
After I did a few, I got so fast, it was like an assembly line. Took me no time at all. And I must say each came out perfect!
