Those who have gone to Sandals in St. Lucia

we are going on our honeymoon in July to the Grande St. Lucian. I have 2 questions:

1. what should I pack??? do I need a fancy dress? Does FH need to bring a suit? or is it mostly shorts and T-Shirts? Is there anything else I should bring like maybe Bug spray? (don't laugh I heard that somewhere before) also, how many bathing suits should I bring? I really don't want to overpack with things I won't need like a cocktail dress.

2. Which excursions do you recommend?

I went to Sandals Halcyon about 5 years ago for 7 days. Most of our time was spent in the pool - I brought 3 b/suits with me...mostly shorts & tanks and a couple of little black dresses for evening dinners.

We did the land & sea tour - the volcano, the Pitons, the natural springs at the botanical garden...and we also did the sunset cruise (aka: booze cruise). I definetly recommend doing the land & sea tour - the island is beautiful. We went into 'town' one afternoon as well for souvenirs - there isn't much and I probably wouldn't do it again...but it's nice to see the locals - the island is pretty poor and it's easy to forget that while you're living the high life at the resort.

We stayed in a garden view room and didn't have any problems with bugs - the people we met who stayed in the ocean view rooms did, however, get pretty bit up. Bring a lot of sunblock - at least 15 spf and a hat if you plan on spending a lot of time just relaxing poolside.

I would love to know this too...I'm going to sandals golf resort and spa...I read on the site that they have a 'formal night'...if anyone can tell me how formal is formal..like cocktail dress or evening gown..?

I went to Sandals Halcyon a couple of months ago(vacation- not honeymoon). we loved it! I would say mostly just bathing suit and converup for during the day. For dinner- all restaurants had different levels of formality- the fanciest being a sundress/nice pants and for him long pants and collared shirt or something. i highly recommend the catamaran tour down the coast- you get off and go by bus to the botanical gardens and sulfur springs and stop to snorkel on the way back. We definitely had a wonderful time- i wish we had stayed longer!!! Any more questions feel free to FM me- have a wonderful time!!!
