those who say they speak to their DH/FH several times a day...
what do you talk about?????
I am not trying to be insulting or anything, it is just Icannot imagine talking to my DH that much.
We talk while getting ready in the morning, while we are commuting to work and once before the day is over, then to come home and talk again. That is alot to me.
I guess because we have been together so long we don't need to talk as much

DH always calls me at least once to see how my day is going...it's nice. It's not that we have 'so much to say' to one another....It's just nice that he checks in on me like that.....
But I would hardly ever say we talk several times....twice at the most. (except for lately b/c of all the house hunting...like I said in the other post.)

DH's work schedule is about 3 hours before mine so he's up much earlier and in bed much earlier.
The first phone call is - did I wake up on time, did he miss any phone calls from the night before, how is he feeling, etc.
The second call is when he is leaving his job in baldwin or at the job in queens. This is a mid day update - who he saw or spoke with & vice versa.
The last call is what train am I getting home.
He goes to bed shortly after I get home, usually between 7.30 - 8.00 so technically I don't speak to him too much during the day.
But when he's off, he is bored and just calls with nonsence.

We talk about plans for the weekend, friends, family, our own plans for the future (house hunting, kids, etc...). Not that we talk for long, but we do have small conversations here and there throughout the day. We'll never run out of things to talk about.

we don't talk for long, but talk like 2-3X during the day... mostly just telling each other things that happened, checking in for the evening (like what we are up to tonight he has soccer and i have yoga)... stuff like that. sometimes we gossip a bit! we never call each other if we don't have anything to say, that would annoy me...

Hey Keisha: We just usually check up on how the work day is going and pass along any news we've heard from our friends, etc. HOWEVER, we dont' commute together and don't really see each other while getting ready for work (slightly different schedules)

Thats a good question.. I don't know myself. We don't talk in the mornings before work though. MY DH is not a morning person. He kisses me before he leaves every morning though.
Usually by 11 or so he is up and he calls me to ask me how my day is going. The other calls are just to exchange information about things that progress during the day.
We just love to talk. We literally spent one whole day on the phone once. Can I say my ears were burning..

I think the opposite... We have been together coming on 8 years, and have known eachother about 16 years and we talk all day long.. Hes my best friend... When something happens during the day good or bad I call him and vise versa... when we go all day long with out talking when he gets home its like we both cant shut up!
I guess when you are Best friends first its maybe a little different..

I guess when you are Best friends first its maybe a little different..
My Dh and I have been together 10 1/2 years and we WERE friends for a year prior to getting together. I do not think our relationship is any less deeper because we can go a few hours without speaking.

No Suzanne, I guess I thought you were saying since you and your Dh were friends first it validated your reasons to always talk to one another. So what I meant is that my Dh and I also have a great friendship prior and during our marriage- and we still do not need to talk to each other all the time.
Darn this computer- you can't express your real emotions.

no problem.. all i meant was that we used to talk this much when we were just friends so it never changed when we started dating..
Plus i think i get some of it from my dad, he calls my mom like 200 times a day and it drives her nuts!! LOL

We talk about our days, plans for that night or the week.
Mostly just to say hi, how are you or I LOVE YOU!
We don't always see alot of each other due to his work schedule.
He was sleeping when I left this morning and had been suffering all weekend with a toothache so he called when he got up just to see how I was feeling!

I agree with Sue. Even though DH and I have not been together as many years as she has, he is my best friend and we talk about everything.

we talk about anything...whats on TV...funny emails...things that happened at work...our dog...you name it...
almost everytime I ever left work for the day I talked to DH on the ride home...

We talk all the time. He wakes me up in the am, calls to see if I left the house, calls me at 9 to make sure i got in ok, calls at 11 to say hi, calls at 3 to say hi, calls at 4 when he's leaving, 4.30 when he gets home, 5 to make sure I am leaving 5.30 to see if I am home...i call at 7 or 8 at right before I go to bed....
It's been like this for 6 and a half years. I love it this way.

Does AOL Instant Messanger count? If so we 'talk' throught the day. Just to say hi, complain about work, what we are doing that night, school, etc.... But lately we talk mostly about wedding stuff
