Those without kids - do you ever worry that you're not going to be a good parent?
I never really thought about it until we got the dog. He's been super aggressive the past 2 days and freaked out and actually tried to bite some woman last night. I can't seem to control him and it bothers me so much, I was so upset last night If I can't control a 10lb dog, how the hell am I going to handle a kid, and even worse, a teenager??
Does anyone else feel like this?

I worry about this. I ask my mother this all the time...how did she raise my sister and I so well without being a total dictator. She said you just learn what's important and what's not. I guess if my two hippie parents could do a good job, then so can I

I worry about this constantly! I'm usually never around kids, but when I am I feel really awkward. I'm just not 'good' with kids, which really scares me for the future...

My dog has made me totally second guess my sense of motherhood too. I spoiled him so bad, he is a brat! I dont want a child like that.

I am VERY scared... Especially when i first got my dog...BUT it teaches you a lot. Yes they are going to be a pain (the dog i mean) BUT hang in there. How old is your dog??? My dog goes after men a lot we, he even got the RED DOT at the VET (means aggressive) but he is learning as he gets older. Don't feak out yet.

I am terrified I'll try to be more of a friend.. rather than a parent.. I'm so laid back by nature.. But I will have to toughen up w/ them.

I think about that a lot too! I'm sure we can do it! It's scary though that you are the person responsible for another human being and how they develop physically, emotionally, and morally.

We just learned he's between 2 and 3 (the shelter told us 1). Too old to be doing what he's doing, basically. FH thinks that we gave him too much freedom when we got him and that we have to restrict a lot of his behavior for a while so he knows 'who's boss.'
Get out - the red dot?? I guess that's like something going on your permanent record?

Seriously? That's incredible. Three of my siblings have kids (3, 3, and 2) and they still worry.

i definitely worry about this. my siblings and i turned out alright. but i can't pinpoint why. my parents were not strict at all. but for some reason we did rebel or run wild and i just can't figure out why not. was it something they did? something in our personalities? and how can i make my kids turn out that way?
but i think this is something everyone (well almost everyone) worries about even once you have kids. raising a child is not easy and what works for one may not work for another even within the same family. i think it's good that we're worried b/c it shows we're concerned.

We are not sure if we want kids ........ that in itself scares the $hit out of me.
I like babies I love playing with little kids but that's where it stops. I dont feel at this point in my life that I would be able to give the time and attention that a child deserves. Being 27 and still feeling this way- I don't know if I will ever be ready or feel that I am equipped for the job. I know my FH feels the same way as I do.

That's so funny!! Ours are totally spoiled too! And when DH let's one of them do something we already decided we wouldn't let them do, I say 'Are we gonna be like that with our kids???'
