Thought I'd share the accident with our cockatiel yesterday
Thought i'd share,.. this all happened while I was putting together favors in the kitchen and had a family party to get to....Yesterday a door closed on fh's family cocktiel's foot.... Lucky flew into the kitchen and he was bleeding by his foot..... it was a very scary thing, as the family tried to calm Lucky down, I quick jumped on the internet and found we needed stiptic powder, and that flour was a substitute... I also got freaked out because it said birds dont clot as well as humans and can die more easily from the bleeding... thank goodness they had flour left from the cookies they made last christmas..... that slowed up the bleeding but didnt stop it..... I rushed to the store for the stiptic but it still didnt fully stop it, so they had to take him to the store, the lady clipped one of the nails then reapplied the powder and he's now in recovery............. it was a very scary and straining day yesterday....about a year ago in august fh's parakeet died at the pet store...... he had breathing problems and we brought him in to see if there was anything we could do, which they couldnt and he died in there, so i was scary bringing another bird there......its been a very draining weekend....Luckily Lucky seems to be recovering.....P.S.- his name is Lucky because fh's family found him on their driveway in the fall season one morning shivering, and the days following were even colder days, it was lucky he survived that 3 years ago..
