at the bottom of such invite it said how much the couple was paying per person....

I'm so sorry but that is beyond tacky. I'm not saying I wouldn't go if it was a good friend but every wedding I have gone to I was always able to find around about how much the couple paid if I needed too

I mean what is that suppose to do to the guest? Make them feel bad if they cant make it? HAve them right a check on the spot!
I had a 'friend' who's wedding I attended last year, and in his thank you card...he wrote the amount of money I gave him as a gift. I was shocked!!!! SO tacky!

That is pretty bad!! Now some things are just bad, tacky, and wrong....but this totally crosses the line! That's insane! I've never heard of such a thing. Its like saying 'I paid $139 for you to come to my wedding so i'd like at least $139 in return'

If you are willing to spend $295 per guest, why would you need to tell your guest that! Thats just insane. Maybe they can take the money and buy some class!

i think she said it was on the bottom of everything, like if someone was requesting black tie... and something to the effect of 'please note that the couple is paying 295 per guest for dinner service'
