Thoughts on Beckwith Pointe and V.I.P. as a wedding venue?
I am getting married in new rochelle, ny. I was wondering if anyone had their weddings at VIP, or beckwith pointe as I have narrowed it down to the two venues.

I looked into both of those venues and here are my thoughts... beckwith pointe: pro - the outside space con - the inside space (seemed like it needed to be renovated) And i believe they section off the rooms for the ceremony/cocktail/vienesse hour
VIP con - the outside space (small and limited, however the BM offered to take FH and i to the beach for pictures when we expressed our thoughts on not having outside picture space) pro - the inside space was new and clean, and indoors were multiple spaces for cocktail hour, and ceremony.
I attended a wedding at VIP shortly after i was considering it and i was disappointed with the cocktail hour. the food was cold and they ran out of a few things from the stations. The main course however was outstanding!!! The bride had no problems with the wedding planning and since she was not at her cocktail hour she was extremely happy with the wedding (and clearly i did not tell her my thoughts about it). Another plus with VIP is that if you are not attending the cocktail hour, they have the video cameras in the bridal suite for you to watch what is going on.
i know that probably was not much help, but good luck!

I had my wedding at BP but it was six years ago. The view and food was excellent. In fact, once I went there on a rainy day to deliver something and the view was still beautiful. I went to a non-wedding event at the VIP and I thought it looked nicer inside, but it has no view, and I thought the food was only passable. So it all comes down to what is important to you.

I've been to the VIP for a prom and I remember it being very nice (never been to a wedding there though so I can't give my opinion on that).
My MOH had her recpetion at Beckwith and I thought it was beautiful! There were lots of places to take pictures there (they have the beach and the rocks and everything). Food is delicious! She took me when they went to pick the menus so I was able to sample everything and there was not one thing I didn't like! (Bacon wrapped scallops for CH were so frigin good!!). And from what I remember the service was great. The bridal attendant was always there to get us drinks or to help out the couple. The bridal suite is pretty cool and it was access to the rooftop which is another good location for pictures.

the only place Ive been to up there is the Davenport. My cousin had her Bat Mitzvah there but I'm not sure if you'd like it for a wedding.

I've been to Beckwith Pointe for a non-wedding event and I thought the view, food, and service were all excellent.
Never been to the other one though.
Best of luck!

VIP was part of my top 5, but we went with the Surf Club instead. VIP has great food, excellent service, but there are no views of the beach and FH and I wanted to be married on the beach.

I am having the reception at VIP. I have to say all parts of the wedding from cocktail hour to Vienesse hour are chosen by the people throwing the event. I have 6 stations with a raw bar and 8 passed hour dourves (sp?) so there should be plenty of food. I am the first event so I hope that the food would be fine. People still rave about Surf Club, VIP and Glen Island Country Club weddings. I have an Italian family so food is extremely important.
I also decided on VIP because the decor is timeless and classic. Surf Club underwent gorgeous renovations, it is not my style BUT they are amazing there.. the service is outstanding and the outside beach atmosphere is superb!
As for Beckwithe... I have gone to a few events there and was not impressed with the food nor decor. It didn't suit my family's style. The one thing that they have going on the entire strip there is the best view. Do you want people looking outside the whole time or dancing and partying at your event?

We went to visit Beckwith Pointe on a fairly 'crummy day', rain/wind the whole nine yards... We figured that if our wedding day were like that we would want to see how the place checks out.
Thank goodness we did that because THAT was when we realized that the ceiling was leaking, there were buckets on the floor, not too many but enough to let us know that it was a problem. The entire place also REEKED of mold and mildew.
The outside was gorgeous and the BM we met with was nice enough but the thought of having our wedding there if it were to rain completely turned us off from the entire experience.
They do a tasting once a month that you can go check out the food if you like. Good luck!
