thoughts on bringing in an outside kosher caterer?

thoughts on bringing in an outside kosher caterer?

still looking for a venue that isn't a typical catering hall (i.e. temple) but that has a kosher caterer.

since that is hard to find, any thoughts about the places that say we they allow us to bring in a kosher caterer?

i'm a little weary- it may be more complicated.

also, it may be more expensive, seeing that we'll have to pay the caterer (which is probably more expensive than if they did it in house) as well as the venue.

i've also heard that sometimes they prepare the food before and it isn't as fresh, or they use oven trucks where they prepare the food in their own ovens (literally inside trucks) outside of the hall kitchen that isn't kosher.

if this isn't ideal, i'll be able to narrow down this whole process and know that having our wedding in a temple will be the best way to go.

thoughts? anyone done this before? success? expensive? stressful?

thanks!

here's an idea...is it possible to do some sort of vegetarian catering where you would not have to have kosher?
Maybe some creative caterer could even do something vegan or raw? I know it sound crazy, but I am just thinking of other options?

I looked into this option, and I think its much more expensive and complicated. You have to pay the catering hall, plus the caterer. In some places it was almost double. Believe me- I think I checked out every kosher option on LI....the temples were defintely the least expensive, unfortunately.

My cousin just had a kosher wedding at the Crest Hallow last weekend. They are both Orthodox. My parents said that the food was good.
