Thoughts on Fresh Flowers as Cake Decorations?

How many of you have done or will be doing this? I am doing it, but am worried about the guests- is it safe to eat the cake with fresh flowers on it? What if people are allergic and we don't know? I know I am probably worried for nothing . . . .

You have nothing to be worried about. The flowers come off before they wind up on anyone's plate...they are also very clean, and the stems trimmed to the bare minimum.

I had fresh flowers on my cake, but they weren't served with the slice. If you are nervous, just make sure to tell your maitre'd to make sure not to serve them!

I'm doing this too. The florist cleans off the flowers so there is no pesticides or plant food on them. And they are not served.

I want to get sugared flowers. I wonder who makes those? Not to eat, just like how they look on the cakes.

I think they will look great - especially if you tie it into the theme of the bm b-k's and the centerpieces. Just make sure Maitre D removes them before serving.
