Thoughts on Friday weddings

Thoughts on Friday weddings

FH's brother and SIL were over this evening, and we started talking about their cousin's wedding this July. My FBIL said 'Oh yeah...NOT going to that because it's on a Friday.' It didn't dawn on me that they chose a Friday afternoon wedding, but now that I know this, I will take the day off from work. I suppose people will feel similarly about our Sunday evening wedding, but it isn't the end of the world to take the day/next day off from a job.

I am so glad I saw your post. I was thinking the same thing, about a sunday afternoon wedding. I am thinking will people show up for the wedding, will they leave early during the reception because of work the next day.

I am getting married the friday of Memorial Day weekend. THe church is at 4 and the c hour starts at 630. I figured if people didnt want to leave work early for the church, they will at least be at the reception part. I think if people want to be there, they will find a way by either leaving early from work or taking the day off. If they really want to be there they will. I don't think there is anything wrong with a fri or sun wedding.

I think if people want to be there they will be and if they don't care enough they wont. I'm having my wedding on a Sunday night and know my Aunt will probably leave early even though she is the closest one to the RH. I dont really care the people who matter will stick around!

I did Friday because my friend recently got married on a Sunday and the place cleared out! At like 10pm almost 3/4 of the room left! I always take off the day after a wedding bt I guess older people don't!

I'm sure my 2:30 church will have a bad turnout on a Friday, but it prob wouldn't have been good on a Saturday anyway bc most people are from bk, the wedding is on LI, and there is a 3 hour gap.

I hope people don't leave you Fri wedding tho Kattus!

the people that matter will be there. everyone has an opinion about everything but if they want to be there they will be no matter when it is.

i figure its a good way to weed out the weak! our wedding is on friday and who ever wants to be there will be there. if its a big deal for them to take off or leave early from work to attend our wedding, then we figure it must not be that important to them. which in the end, saves us money.

We are having a Friday wedding, the ceremony is at 3pm and the cocktail hour starts at 6:30pm. It is the friday, after Easter so we know most schools will be closed and a lot of our friends and family are teachers, so obviously that is no issue for them. My close family members are taking off or taking half days to be there.

Honestly, in my experience, friday weddings have become so common and I've just taken half days to be there for my friends, so I knew they would do the same. It helped us be able to have our dream venue with the discount so we went for it. :)

The people that matter will be there no matter what! Its understandable that some people may not be able to make it to the church b/c they dont have enough vacation days etc but your family will be there.

I'm having a Sunday afternoon wedding and I dont think I will have an issue with people leaving early since my receptions ends around 6:30-7.

Friday weddings are so common now. As everyone says most will make it to the CH. Heck my wedding is on a Tuesday, the day before July 4th. Most people are off the next day...but I know some are not. Luckily my ceremony is in the evening at 7:30, so CH is at 8, that is enough time for people to get home change and make in time for that (all at the RH). As long as I hit my minimum I am ok. By the way I sent my STD with the day (Tuesday) on it to make sure people were aware and not assume it was a weekend wedding. HTH

I have no problem with a wedding any day of the week. The one thing I have learned in wedding planning is people will complain no matter what you do.

ours is the friday after thanksgiving. we're hoping at least 98% of ppl will have off - or be able to leave work early. our ceremony is at 2 pm.
if it was a regular friday, we definitely wouldve pushed the ceremony back later.

The people who care about you and your FH will be at your wedding regardless of the day or time! If someone doesn't come bc of that then they weren't worth the invitation. Just my opinion!

We're having a Friday wedding. Church is 3:30, CH at 7.

We know some people may not be able to make church. And that's OK with us. I've always taken a 3-day weekend for a Friday wedding, but any Sunday night wedding I've been to, I left right after dessert was put out.

If I was close with the person having the Sunday wedding, I probably would have stayed. But I don't feel right not going to the ceremony and just going to the party afterwards.

My wedding is on a Friday. Ceremony is at 3:30 in Brooklyn and CH starts at 8:30 in Long Island. Whoever really wants to attend both will manage to be there, and obviously I won't be surprised if there is a low turnout for the ceremony since people might not want to take off.

My wedding is on a Friday. Church is at 2 CH starts at 7. I know that there will not be very many people there... probably even some of my family, but I'm not letting it bother me.
