I will preface this by saying I have never smoked, hate smoking, etc. However, I still would like to do personalized matches because people save them. My parents have a bag of matches from weddings over the past 25 years including their own, and I love that people save them.
However, my mom is extremely against us doing matches for our own wedding and wants us to do mints if anything. I hate the mints -- they dont taste good and people dont keep them. The few friends of mine who smoke dont use matches, they all have lighters, but I think people would keep the matches around the house for birthday candles and other things.
Thoughts?

I don't smoke either, but FH does, as do a lot of his family and friends. And even if they didn't, I think we'd still do matches. My parents also collect them and I think many others do, too! I say go for it! We did them, as well, and they came out great!!!

If you like them, then get them- people use matches for a lot of other things besides smoking- lighting candles, and when I lived in a crappy apt- we had to use them to light the stove

I'm anti-smoking too, but always love having a box of matches from an event
I ordered them from partyinnovations.com...SUPER fast delivery, excellent quality and very good price (if you sign up for their chat room and make 1 post, they give you 10% off the price, plus free shipping for orders over $125)

Re: thoughts on matches?
Personally FH and I both smoke (smokers have lighters) but we did it as a little add on - I am setting up tables in the smoking area outside the RH with votive candles and bowls with matchboxes and ashtrays for the other guests that i do know will be out there smoking I am also putting some on the bar. i got mine at a good price (matchboxes seem to be a bit expensive) I got 50 for $18 at Invitations by Dawn they are so cute and i had them in like 4 days.

I don't smoke and neither does FH. We both actually hate smoking, but we still did matches and I never even considered whether they'd be used for smoking. I just thought they were cute and wanted matches, so we got them.

It's your wedding, do what you want to do. We plan on handing out cigars, so we got beautiful matchbooks made. ill post pic..
I don't smoke either, but I love matchbooks - cause I always need them for lighting candles in my room. So there are definitely other reasons out there to use matches other than for smoking.
I say get them!
