i need help! my church won't let me have rose petals, rice, or birdseed thrown at us after the ceremony! any suggestions? i heard bubbles are nice but do they come out well in pics? i also heard about doves or trumpets....any ideas? thanks!

Bubbles look nice,
but for a wow in photo's I had a friend that used the hand-held 'sparklers' but those might be considered foreworks and illegal, not sure in NY....

I've heard some bad things about butterflies...like half of them are dead...
I used bubbles (DH's choice) and I thought the pics came out really nice...I'll have to scan the proof in...but here is a friends pic

We went to a wedding where we threw heart-shaped 'rice' that just melts into the ground after a while. FI was actually eating it! He said it tasted like sugar!
My church didn't allow anything to be thrown either...but we did it anyway and my guest threw rose petals. Nobody scolded me for it but if they did I was just going to say that one of my guests brought them and didn't know that they weren't allowed. I also had white balloons that said 'just married'.

I am using silk rose petals, what about them?
Also ask the church if someone cleans them up after the ceremony, can they be done then?

You could probably use the heart shaped dissolving rice (sold and Michaels), bubbles, or confetti/streamers. I think they would all photograph nicely.

We had guests toss dried lavender buds (tossing lavender) - It smelled SO good and came out looking like rice in pics. I'm not sure if your church would allow that either though.
