Throwing rice

Throwing rice

Are there any brides keeping with this tradition? Just wondering, because I wanted to do the butterfly release but since so many girls said the drawbacks of this..I changed my mind. I wanted to do the rice throwing but it can get messy....Also, I have to clean up all the mess I make after the ceremony and my ceremony is in a garden. Any suggestions?

My church doesn't allow rice or anything to be thrown. The only thing we can use is bubbles. Its not my choice, but thats what we'll do.

I wanted to throw rice....church said no. Then I wanted to throw bird seed but that it can only be thrown once we reach the bottom of the steps...thats dumb so thats a no lol. I was going to have petal cones but we can't throw rose petals. We can't release balloons, doves, or butterflies. Only option is bubbles and to be honest I'm not a big fan...I don't know what I'm gonna do! I'd go with the bird seed if I were you...I think its fun!!!

We're not allowed bird seed or rice either. I don't want to use bubbles because they can stain dresses so we're not doing anything. I don't think it will be missed.

We are using rose petals, a lot easier to clean up and prettier!!

Girl you do not want bird seed! We used it and it was a disaster! It got DH's tux all dirty, it got in my hair (remember you will have an updo and it will be done nicely) in my dress and in my veil...some stayed all night cuz we couldn't get it out! I wasn't a fan of thwe bubbles either but if you can't throw rose petals, dont throw anything at all...go for the bubbles...you will be happy later!

take a look at my face in this (non pro) pic! I am terrified! LOL

We're throwing rose petals. It looks so pretty in pictures! You can also do those streamers that people use on New Year's Eve...I think they're called poppers.

Cream and ivory rose pedals. My sister in law had little disposable hearts because the church would not allow her anything else. They smelled like vanilla too! If I were you, do rose pedals! Usually the florist will throw that in for free!

You can do ribbon wands! They look so pretty in pictures. We can't do rice, birdseed, bubbles OR rose petals...and I would do ribbon wands but we came up with the crazy idea to make navy and white pennants to wave instead!

Re: Throwing rice

My church is allowing me to throw rice, so I want to keep that tradition. But then again I don't have to clean it afterwards, in a garden it can get pretty messy. As with the bubbles I heard some stain dresses.
