Good morning everyone!!! I'm pleased to report that I did not get called in to work last night so I actually had a full night of sleep! I needed it after yesterday!
Here's today's QOTD... we're back on a more 'real' note just to get a little sense of each other...
Now that you're getting married, the inevitable 'next step' always seems to be the question 'when are you having kids?'
Do you have children now?
Have you and FH discussed when you're going to start? Will you start right away? Are you going to plan your family or let it be a happy surprise?
Any names picked out yet and did you share that with FH? If you've had names picked out even before meeting FH, do they go with his last name well?
Happy Thursday everyone & grab that umbrella!

No kids yet.
FH and I differ on the when a little. I want to start trying at about our year mark. FH wants to wait a little longer. He is worried because I still don't have a permanent job. He is right of course, but I am worried because I know the problems I can have. Besides I am almost 30, I don't want to wait to much longer.
We can't just go off the pill and see what happens, if I am going off the pill its going to be with the conscience decision to try as hard as we can, because going off the pill for me is going to means pain, I am on it to prevent cysts.
As for names. I have a few I have always loved, but my new last name is hard to match names to. I haven't really discussed it with FH at all. I think it will be more fun to discuss together when the time comes. Well have 9 months for that conversation.

Re: ***--- THURSDAY QOTD ---***
It seems that Sandra and I are the early birds this week :)
We have no children now. FH is quite enough to handle at times and I feel like I'm taking care of ten kids in this house.
It's been discussed quite a lot. FH would be sooooo happy if I got knocked up right this second. His brother became a father last year and he can't wait for me to get preggers but I'm waiting for sure. We may try to become foster parents in the first year or two because I've always really wanted to do that. We aren't sure if at some point we're going to let nature take it's course (since I have bad ovaries due to some medical stuff) and when it happens, it happens or wait until he has tenure someplace and then really start trying. I know he doesn't want to wait that long...still.
I didn't have any names picked out really. I've always been very partial to girl's names that begin with an A but I want to put in Maria as a form of Mary to honor my grandmother and great grandmother somewhere. Every now and then a boy's name strikes me and then I open my big mouth and one of my sorority sisters names her kid that . But we actually have a boy's name picked out now. His mom's last name was Max and she was upset about losing it so she gave it to all of her kids as a middle name. We decided on naming a son Max Anthony. I like the way Max Anthony Mordhorst sounds (cause it's hard to do anything with that last name) and it's a nice thing to do for my in-laws I think and it keeps with tradition.

Ms Sandra you need to answer your own questions

Re: ***--- THURSDAY QOTD ---***
I suppose I should answer too... since it was my question and all.
I have no idea when we're going to start having children. I'd love to have our first within a year or so of getting married (especially since I'd like to be in the process of having a child before we buy a home) but I don't think FH really has any timeline in mind. We're going to play it by ear, so to speak, and see what nature does for us.
I'm also just 30 and don't want to wait too long since I want to have at least 2 children.
On our second or third date, I jokingly told FH my dream girl's name... Melina... and he loved it. It goes fine with his last name, and I think we're going to go with Melina Rose (my mom's middle name and his mom's first name, and the R for my grandmother Ruth who passed away). For a boy, I'd love Jack, since it's my grandpa's name and he's the best!
I love hearing others' favorite baby names. If you don't want to answer everything else, at least tell us your names!

Re: ***--- THURSDAY QOTD ---***
I want to start right away. Everyone around us is having babies and I def have the fever! Originally, FH wanted to wait a while but I think he's coming around now that a lot of our friends are makin babies!!! Since our friends have had their babies and other friends have announced that they're expecting, baby talk has gone up about 90%.
As for names.....I've always loved Meghan Elizabeth. For as long as I can remember. It's actually a joke now bc everyone knows not to steal my name And with FH last name her initials would be M.E.G. which, as you can see, spells MEG! lol just weird how that worked out. and FH likes it so at least we know the girl.
A few weeks ago we got started on baby names (even though we are NO WHERE near pregnant!) and we actually got into a little argument over boy names. I guess we will have to decide when the time comes!

no children yet...
we want to wait 4 years... i would like to have 2-3 children before i'm 30 so that timing would be perfect.
even before i met my fh, Daniel has always been my favorite boy name
for a girl i've always liked the name Bella but i don't want people to think i named my baby after the stupid twilight movies so maybe Anabelle or something like that ?

Re: ***--- THURSDAY QOTD ---***
well u see, my cousin stole my boy baby name. i picked it when i was 12 but she got married and knocked up first so she stole my dream baby name (Jeremy). that bish.
so now i guard my new baby names like they're under national threat. i cant divulge. FH thinks im crazy cuz he's not allowed to tell anyone our imaginary baby's name.
i will say that i like Ophelia a lot for girls and Sophie.
for boys, close runner ups are Lucas and Nicholas.

Re: ***--- THURSDAY QOTD ---***
FH and I do not have any children yet. We plan to start trying for kids maybe a year or two after we get married. We both want to be financially secure and close to owning a home before we have children. I am also really enjoying my freedom and sleeping late right now, I am not sure I am ready to have kids just yet. I want 3 kids, but FH only wants 2. We'll see what happens.
Don't really have any boys names picked out, but I've always loved the name Alexis for a girl. I would name her Alexis Michele (Michele after my sister who passed away 8 years ago).

No children yet
Originally I wanted to let nature take its course and not prevent anything, but I've since grown up and changed my tune seriously. We will probably wait at least a year, maybe two. It depends really on if I switch jobs, when we take our HM (I'm going to be really selfish here because I don't want to not have one because I got pregnant before we could take it), and if we're in a house or appartment, because I'd like to not have a baby in an appartment because I think I'd be overwhelmed.
We're still not clear on names, FH really wants to do the Greek thing where first child is named after someone in his family, second child someone in mine, then back and forth until completion. I really don't want to do that, I'd rather have unique identities for my children...and my only saving grace with that is that FMIL says she wishes she didn't agree to that herself. That being said, for a girl I LOVE Eleni Rose, Sophia Simone, Alexandria, or Isla more recently, and for a boy I like Stelios, Leonidas, or Alexander. If we named any of our children anything with Alex in it though, that would just be beyond ridiculous LOL.

No kiddies yet!
We plan on starting to try right after the wedding. All 3 of his siblings have kids and so does my older brother (my sis is only 17 so thank goodness no baby there! ) so we def. have the fever!
As for names we already have them picked out (I'm a planner )
Girls: Gianna Bella & Belladonna Gia (yes the middles names are purposely part of the others first name!)
Boys: Rocco Carmine & Gennaro Salvatore
Can you tell my new last name is Italian?

I thought about going on bc until our honeymoon as well because I'd be miserable if I was super preggo the whole time! I know you are planning on taking yours way late too! BTW I am a victim of 'the Greek thing' and 'Christina Frances Patrikalakis' really just doesn't roll off the tongue very nicely

We don't have children...and they are NOT in our immediate future. We want to wait like 8 to 10 years till we have one, just 1.

Re: ***--- THURSDAY QOTD ---***
No children yet...unless you count my dog and two cats (which in my mind they are my children)
FH would like for me to pop out a baby tomorrow but realistically we will wait until after October. We are getting married in September and my best friend is getting married in October so I want to wait until after her wedding. My biggest fear about having a baby is what am I going to do with it once I have to go back to work! Childcare is expensive and unless I get some help from the government (j/k...lol) I don't think we will be able to afford it. But as everyone has always said you are never financially ready to have a child so I guess we will just figure it out. I do have a little bit of baby fever since my two cousins had their babies recently and a friend of mine is due in September.
As for names...we have talked about it.
For a girl I am not sure what the first name will be but her middle name will be Christine, after my mom who passed away in 2007.
For a boy FH would like to name him after him for the first name (Joseph) and use his father's name (James) for the middle name...his father passed away when he was younger. I am totally fine with using his Father's name as a middle name but I DO NOT want to use Joseph as the first name. If he insists then I may negotiate using James as the first name and Joseph as the middle name....but I would prefer not to use Joseph at all.
I guess we'll see what happens!

We want to start trying immediately!!! Neither one of us has children now. We're old so we can't wait too long (he just turned 42 and I will be 41 in August). I am going off the pill immediately after the HM and we will start trying right away. We'd like to have 2 but realistically, unless they're twins, it will be just one.
We are so ready!!!!

No children yet.
We want to wait a year / become home owners first. I always imagined a beautiful nursery with a rocking chair lol As it stands we barely have space for us in our apt.
I do have names though
Bria, Gabrielle, Chloe or Savannah Grant, Reece or Gavin

Re: ***--- THURSDAY QOTD ---***
I do not have kids yet but I am really starting to get the itch... FH and I discussed about waiting for a bit and enjoying our time together and waiting until we got a big house.. I know FH wants them immediately but I have been the one saying we should wait so he is ok with that.
but lately i want them sooo bad like NOW.. lol so maybe sooner than we planned.
if it does happen before I want it to I will be ok with that. I would love to be able to surprise FH one day and tell him we are having a baby, he would loooooove it..... but I will probably try and plan it the best I can so we are prepared
