Personally I don't think it's a good idea, a lot of people would probably not be able to make it, being that's in the middle of the work week. XOXOXO Kitty

In all honesty, if given the choice I would not pick Thursday . I think that you should prepare yourself for alot of no responses, becasue alot of people will not want to take off work early on Thursday and have to go to work hung over if they cannot take off on Friday.
But in the end do what you and your FH want, and as others have said those who want to be there will be.
I totally agree

Re: thursday reception
We are having a thursday evening reception the day after july 4th because tons of people when they have a day off in the middle of the week tend to extend it and take more time off.............. that being said we kind of did an 'survey' among friends and family and there were no responses like ..'omg no way ' everyone is soo excited and people are making it a vacation!!! do what works for you and please dont worry about seeming cheap or not wanting to write thursday on your invitation, its whatever makes you and you're hunny to be happy!!!
good luck...maybe i should start and official thursday night bride thread...lol jk

Re: thursday reception
In all honesty, I have one in 3 weeks, and I think it's a HUGE inconvenience. The church is at 5, in Nassau, so I have to take a half day on Thursday, not to mention off on Friday if I really want to have a good time. Even if I don't, it doesn't end until 11-12ish....and it's about an hour away. I just think it's not worth it....I would change the date to an 'off peak' date before making it a thursday... JMO

Wow, so many weekday weddings
I attended a Monday wedding years ago (Memorial Day) but weekdays are far more popular now.

I say go for it. The people that matter will be there no matter when it is. I think you would be surprised how many people attend. Hey, if you can get what you want, for a price you can afford, I say.. BOOK IT!

Re: thursday reception
i think you guys arent even thinking into the whole thursday wedding thing. a thursday night is the same thing as a friday night in the sense that people have to come after work.. or take the day off. and its the same as a sunday night where they have work the next day! so stop being so negative cause someone who is having a thursday night wedding and being heard its 'cheap' really annoys the crap out of me.

Re: thursday reception
I wouldnt do a Thursday because my family would riot and plus I like partying on a Sat. So I pretty much was narrow minded on my day and only wanted a Saturday. However, with that said if it works for you than go for it, you cant make everyone happy. Also just becuase I had to have a sat. wedding doesnt meant I wouldnt go to a wedding on a Thursday, sunday, Friday etc.. If I needed to I would just plan ahead to take off and make a mini vacation out of it.. but it doesnt take much for me to want to take a day off.
BTW ppl have a right to not likea Thursday wedding on these boards but dont let that stop you from what you want to do. And as sad as it is some ppl are goint to think- oh a Thurs, or sun or even sat. afternoon is cheaper. You cant stop the worlds opnions just be comfortable with what yours are and what you choose!!

Re: thursday reception
My wedding is on a Monday, its Columbus day but its what works for us, its cheaper they had a good weekend, and we planned accordingly. we are having our wedding 12-5:30 and were planning something for afterwards. So the people who need to get up early for work the next day can go, but were still able to attend, and the people who want to party and spend the night can! The way I look at it is, Sat and Sun is the day we get all our crap done, whenever we have a wedding it cuts into our time to do all our errands and what not.. So having it on an off day completly changes that. Your guest still have their weekend. Besides, you can plan so much for the weekend after, it can be a long party weekend, I can't believe people are gonna make a big deal to take a friday off! We have told a lot of our guest now though that its going to be on a monday so they can plan accordingly. I'm not inviting anyone who i have any doubt that would not change their schedule to whatever it took to be at our wedding either! Go for it!!!!

Re: thursday reception
Who cares what DAY of the week it is, it's a wedding--a reason to celebrate the union of two people.
My two cents on the idea of a Thursday wedding. When DH and I were planning our wedding we originally were going to have a Thursday wedding, but over time we collectively changed to a Sunday. That was OUR decision, not our friends/family. Do what you and FH want. Your friends and family will attend. If they want to be stinks and not go b/c they want to get drunk at your expense, but can't b/c they would have to leave early b/c they have work or would have to leave work early that day, then too bad for them. Peronally, I don't anticipate taking the day off of work after a wedding. If that is someones reason to not go to a wedding, then essentially there is no good day to have a wedding then, cause guess what, not EVERYONE works Monday thru Friday 9-5! My DH doesn't and I know ALOT of people who don't!

If I was invited to a thursday wedding and I'm close to the bride/groom... I'll definitely attend. Probably take friday off... if I can't take friday off, I'll probably leave a bit early.
The ppl that want to be there will find a way, you have to be prepared for guests leaving early and a larger number of ppl rsvping no than a weekend date.
My friend is getting married next year and she's planning for a Monday wedding. I'm in the bridal party so I plan on taking Monday and Tuesday off. A little inconvenient but not a big deal.
I definitely agree! Thursday night weddings are becoming very popular! You do what works best for you and FH, and the people that want to be there will definitely be there!
