like I told you in the FM w/ ppl and wk its hard for ppl to make a Thurs wedding nevermind the cereomy... Now dont get me wrong...id still go no matter what day it was but I think most ppl wont be in the 'party' mood when they know they have wk the next day. BUT I also think those who are close to u...will have enough notice to take Fri off...

Re: Thursday weddings
We are doing a Thursday wedding!
Our first reason is because our timeshare in Mexico goes from Saturday to Saturday, and if we had a weekend wedding we'd miss part of our honeymoon! We also wanted a day in between to recoup.
Second, most of our OOT guests are freelancers so they don't have to worry about getting up for work at 9am the next day, which definitely works in our favor. We also timed it so that the reception starts at 6:30, which should be enough time for most people to get there after work and is done by 10:30 which we feel is pretty reasonable for a weeknight. We understand if some people have to miss the 5pm ceremony though.
We'll be sending out Save The Dates right around the 12 month mark to give people plenty of time to make arrangements.

Re: Thursday weddings
personally I wouldnt but thats because I have a lot of people coming OOT and I want them there Thur for my RD (wedding is friday) --- doing thursday would mean them off Wed-Friday.... though if there is a lot of local guest i really cant see why not. I never turn down the party. I think a STD is a good idea so people can decide if they want to take that friday as a day off.. I say if money is an issue defiantly go for it.

Re: Thursday weddings
My wedding is scheduled for a Thursday and it is going to be amazing. We decided on the Thursday before Labor Day.
I believe that as long as you give peole enough notice as far as the date goes..you should be fine. i would go for it.
We plan on having a barbeque that Saturday for Labor Day for our out of town guests..

yea, well the wedding is not until 2012, so lol I have alot of debating to do. And it's a summer wedding,.....we shall see
we are having a Thursday summer wedding this year. It all depends on your guest list. Most of our family and friends are teachers or are self-employed. We asked them if they would rather a Thursday or a Sunday and they all said Thursday for sure. It is easier to muddle through one day and still have the weekend to themselves then have to muddle through a whole week. Our wedding is over at 11:30pm and is local enough for those who will be going to work the next day to get home at a reasonable hour. Everyone else was looking forward to a long weekend. We are able to do the summer wedding we wanted for the springtime price.
Those who want to be there will be there no matter what day it is. and honestly in a few months no one will remember what day it was on anyway. I would definitely send out save the dates so people have plenty of notice to decide what to do but i am definitely for it! Congrats and good luck!

Re: Thursday weddings
While I personally didn't do it. I think it's not a bad idea. In truth depending upon your circle of friends I know tons of people who regularly go out to party or for drinks, karaoke or whatever and stay out until midnight why wouldn't they come out for your wedding. I think all the people who love you will be there no matter what.

Re: Thursday weddings
I'm telling you do whats best for you, have the wedding of your dreams but still have money in the bank. I just found out today that my neighbor is also getting married on a Thursday at WM in 2011 and she was so happy to hear that more people are doing it, it will be worth it.
I've already had several people tell me they have already asked for the day after off and one of my bm's just started a new job and told them she needed Thursday off. She plans on working Friday but like I said the party will be over early enough. The ceremony will start at 6pm so people will still be able to work a half day Thursday

Re: Thursday weddings
Yea so while this is obviously a matter of opinion, I think it's the best idea we had! My office is closed on Fridays so it started out as a joke 'Oh why don't you do it in a Thrusday??' I kind of just laughed it off .But after looking in months we didn't want, at places that weren't what we wanted, we just started getting quotes on Thursdays. We go to plenty of Sunday night weddings and have to be at work the next day, and we don't leave early. Granted most people won't come to the church but I know so many people that don't on a Friday or Saturday anyway. Our reception will be over at 11 so it isn't too late. Wesaved so much money, got the hall of our dreams, all our vendors we love, some even at discounted rates. We have to pay for the majority ourselves, as well as save for a house. We have a 2 1/2 year engagement, and so people have plenty of notice I sent out the STD's last month. All that are invited are so supportive and will be there for us because they know what a hardship this is, we don't come from money. I have learned to ignore all the nasty comments from the people that are not invited,.... 'THURSDAY?? what about your guests??!!'...um yea what about them?? I tell them are you going to make a donation so we can have it on a Friday or Saturday night in June so it's more convenient?? NO?? Then mind your business! lol...the bottom line is..GO FOR IT!. I can't tell you how many people are talking about it and are excited for ours. You do what you need to do.

Re: Thursday weddings
I don't like it. IMO it's worse than Friday or SUnday because I'll probably have to take off2 days from work (the day of to get ready and get there) and the next day, or at least be totally inconvenienced for TWO days.
That having been said, it's your wedding.
ETA: It depends on how important it is for people to coem to teh ceremony. I want everyone at my wedding to come to the ceremony and I would never go to just a reception, so I'd have to go nuts trying to get there earlier

well said! Thursdays rock! those who don't want to come, don't come, you'll save money ! I know the people that love us will be there not matter what. After us being together almost 13 years and finally getting married, we have already been told this is the event of the year, not one to be missed!

Re: Thursday weddings
I feel like the people that really want to go and support you will go any day. I personally wouldn't choose it b/c people have work that day and the next , so some might not come or leave early. Do what is right for you and your budget.
