Well, I guess I'm kind of bias since I'm more of a practical person vs. romantic and so is FH. I moved into his apartment less than a year after we were together since I was over there so much and it didn't make sense for me to just come home to pick up another round of clothes. Plus then I could help him out with rent.
Then we talked about marriage but when the housing market looked great for buyers and there was the 8000 first time homeowner incentive, we decided to buy first before marriage.
my point is, The practical side of me thinks its a waste to pay mortage on a house for months without enjoying it so I see FH's point...But, doesn't mean your feelings on it isn't valid . I'm sure you guys can talk it out and come to a healthy compromise...maybe 'weekends away' at the house?

Re: need some advice - please don't quote
What if you moved all of the big stuff and continued to live at home until after the wedding. Then you can move in after the wedding?
ETA: You won't be able to move everything in one day, it's kind of like the b est of both worlds, you guys can paint, and even spend a night or two there, but not officially 'live there'
This way you can paint and fix up the way you like it, while still living at home?
Hope that helps, it's a tricky situation, hang in there!
