Timber Point vs. West Sayville

Timber Point is probably my top choice right now - going back for a tasting with my mom today. However, I still have a tour booked at West Sayville tomorrow (wish I could have seen it earlier since I'll be going back to Timber Point and could have negotiated today)!

Just wondering if anyone has seen both and your suggestions on which might be a better fit for me? We need a fairly decent sized dining room, since we expect about 175 guests (and I know that West Sayville can only accommodate around 200). I'd prefer all wood floors and lots of natural light (I know that West Sayville still has carpeting in the dining area). We are also on a tight budget - so only considering Fridays and Sundays.

Any thoughts?

Re: Timber Point vs. West Sayville

I saw both and I definitely liked Timber Point better. West Sayville had really nice views and lots of windows for tons of natural light but it was a little too dated for me. It might also be a little too tight for 175 people. Also, I didn't like the fact that the dance floor was separate from the main room. It was very budget friendly though so I suggest seeing it for yourself and weighing the pros and cons. Hope this helped... good luck and let us know what you choose!

Agreed with this 100%! They just redid the room at Timber Point- new floors too! I didnt like the two separate rooms for dinner/dancing at Sayville. Depends on what kind of wedding you're going for as I believe Sayville has an all inclusive package which is nice

Timber Point vs. West Sayville

We just booked at West Sayville! I didn't see Timber Point, and it does all depend on preference. I personally like that the dining room and dance floor are seperate since we have a wide range of guests in age and level of party they bring lol. I also really like the old mansion feel and felt so at ease with the manager Steve and the way he runs the place. So ulimately it does depend on your must haves. My fiancé and I really just talked it out among the top three we had and found ourselves consistently going back to West Sayville which is how we knew it was the one we really wanted. Good luck!

Timber Point vs. West Sayville

I am booked at west sayville so i'm a little biased. The carpeting is just in the dining area which yes, is separate from the dancing, but I happened to love that. Being that its separate I don't have to worry about anyone sitting too close to the DJ. We have a total of 190 people on our guest list and I'm not concerned with the amount of people.

I feel at home there. Its beautiful and comfortable and totally different than any wedding venue on Long Island I have ever been to (and I've been to A LOT). Steve and Annie there just seal the deal. Steve has put up with my emails for almost two years at this point and has been so patient and just puts all my crazy bride problems at ease. I am SO happy with them so far and my day is only 2 months away now!

We were booked for a tour at timber point but i ended up canceling after seeing West Sayville. Its definitely a personal preference. They're both lessings venues so you can't REALLY go wrong.

Timber Point vs. West Sayville

These were the two venues I was deciding between and I really loved them both for various reasons. I agree that it's a personal preference once you see both, but I would definitely recommend thinking about your guest list because that could influence your decision. I wound up going with Timber Point for a few reasons, but a main concern for me was space. I think West Sayville really maxes out at 175 so even imagining that number felt a little tight for us. Steve showed us where the tables would go to fit 175 and they felt disconnected from the rest of the group to me. Also, we were feeling like we'd have more like 200 people and getting down to 175 would be a stretch. We're having our ceremony at the venue and it sounded like 175 would barely (and maybe not even) fit in that room if the ceremony had to be indoors due to weather. However, if numbers/space isn't a concern then I don't think you can go wrong with either! I've had great service working with Miriam at Timber Point thus far and the food we tasted was amazing. :) Good luck!

Timber Point vs. West Sayville

I am booked with Timber Point, I never saw west Sayville though. I liked the openess of Timberpoint and the wood floors. Miriam has been great to work with; she has answered so many of my questions and has helped make suggestions along the way. Ultimately you have to go with what you feel

Timber Point vs. West Sayville

I've gone to weddings at both--I liked Timberpoint better and really just for the reason that the dance floor and tables are in the same room at Timberpoint! I'm not sure if this is something that happens at all weddings at West Sayville but I like the idea of it being one room...both were beautiful weddings though!

Timber Point vs. West Sayville

I only saw Timber Pointe, and while I loved the main reception room...I think the cocktail hour room is pretty small. If you're having a wedding with about 175 guests, i think it will be tight. If you plan on being outdoors for cocktail hour, I guess it wouldn't matter. But if there is inclement weather that day - could all your guests fit comfortable in the cocktail hour space? Check it out again when you go back.

Re: Timber Point vs. West Sayville

We are booked at West Sayville so I'm biased too :) The biggest selling points for us were the view, the ceremony options & the staff. We are planning to have an outdoor ceremony, most likely on the dock at the neighboring maritime museum. I went to an outdoor ceremony at Timber Point and didn't like having golfers in the background & wanted to be closer to the water. Other than that Timber Point was great though and I can understand your dilemma. I think overall if depends on your layout preference. We really like the cozy feeling of West Sayville, but it's not for everyone.

Good luck!
