HOW MUCH TIME DOYOU THINK IT TAKES TO PLAN A WEDDING? MY WEDDING IS MAY 28,2006. IS THAT ENOUGH TIME OR TOO MUCH TIME? MY FIANCE WOULD LIKE TO GET MARRIED JUNE '2005'. I'M STICKING WITH THE DATE WE BOOKED CHATEAU BRIAND IN MAY? DO YOU THINK I'M BEING SELFISH OR SENSIBLE?

I was engaged for 2 years and for me it was perfect! Enough time to save the money Most of the planning was done within 1 year though!

Re: TIME
I hear long engagements tend to get more stresfful.
I am in marketing and had to do some research on weddings, etc. The stat that the research said was that most couples were engaged from 12 to 16 months.
Why did you book so far ahead in advance?

Re: TIME
the time is going to fly by either way! you can definately put everything together by June 2005. my SIL planned her wedding in 5 months..she had it at Leonards and she had enough time to do everything, although she was a little nutty!

I agree. It is a stressful time, and we had a year and a half engagement. I wish it had been shorter most times, but we wanted to buy a house before getting married (which we did). Unless there is a reason like saving money needed for wedding, or getting out of school, etc., I would make it sooner. Check with Chateau Briand and see if they have the other date available.

Re: TIME
We originally wanted to do it in august which would have been 9 months...once we started pricing things we found out there was no way we could swing it, so we decided to have a 16 month engagement, it gives us plenty of time to plan plus plenty of time to save, good luck with whichever you choose!

Re: TIME
jmo - we got engaged in nov 03 and are looking at either aug or nov of 06. be practical about it, can you save over $25k in a year to pay for your wedding? i'm just giving you my point of view, i know everybody financial situation is different. we looked at 2 1/2 to 3 yrs as plenty of time to save the $$ we need and not stress about everything. good luck.

Re: TIME
Mine ended up being a LONG time away 17 months... b/c we wanted to do it in the summer (i'm in education, summers off!)... Everything was booked in 1 month (back in Feb)... then now I just finished dress etc.. little detials (b/c i'm off now)... but i don't want to start doing little things like hair/makeup until more towards the wedding, so it's just a big waiting game!
I wish it was NOW!

Re: TIME
THANKS LADIES, WE WERE ACTUALLY AT CHATEAU BRIAND LAST NIGHT AND HE SAID HE HAD NOTHING AVAILABLE IN 05 ACCEPT THE WEEKDAYS, OR THE HOLIDAYS THAT ARE NOT THAT BUSY. WE'VE BEEN TOGETHER 12 YEARS ALREADY WHATS ANOTHER YEAR AND A HALF. I MEAN THERE'S SO MUCH TO DO AND SO LITTLE TIME BECAUSE WE BOTH HAVE BUSY SCHEDULES. I FIGURE MORE TIME LESS STRESS AND MORE TIME TO MAKE THAT LONG AWAITED DAY THE BEST DAY OF OUR LIVES.

Re: TIME
We've been engaged for 4 years now and just started planning our wedding for next year.... We put off planning to save money but then this and that came up and no money got saved. now with a contract signed the money is being put to it. :) It all depends on the situation.

Re: TIME
Carline you have more than enough time to do it next year. it is not how long u plan it is how u plan. You can plan a wedding of a lifetime in two weeks. Good Luck!

Re: TIME
You have to go with a time limit you are comfortable with. Think about the money situation also. The longer the engagement the more time you have to save, which in the end cuts down on a lot of stress

Re: TIME
FH and I were planning on waiting until May 2006 in order to save more money and have more time to plan. Then we decided we'd rather get married as soon as possible. Go with whatever makes you feel more comfortable.

Same here!!! 17 months, needs to be a summer wedding since I work in a school. I am already booking hair and makeup since I live out of town. I will have everything done next week except dress, limos and invites!

I have been engaged since 2001. Money was an issue and I am still in school (so is he). We are not getting married until 2006. It all depends upon your situation. Personally I am really nervous about not having enough $$$
