TIME

Re: TIME

FH & I have been engaged only since April 2004 & we are getting married March 31, 2006. We are doing a long engagement for $$ reasons. As someone has stated before, in 1 year, you can have $25K saved (if you are diligent)...We are amazed at how much we have saved already. Nothing is a rush & it gives you time to really investigate into what you really want...We only have the hall & church booked...We know where we want to go for other things, but we are relaxing for some time....Not to mention, we want to have a house purchased before the wedding...

It is definately doable to plan a wedding in 7 months or so...I personally would not want to do it...I feel the stress now of planning & can't imagine stress with such short time....Do whatever feels right to you!

We will end up having a 2 year engagement... almost to the day. It was supposed to be 3 years, but we didn't want to wait that long, so we're scrimping a bit and having it next August. I think 2 years is good though - a year to kind of bask in being engaged, do a few things at your own pace - and then the second year can really be planning - but hopefully you'll have at least a few things accomplished already.

Best of luck to you!

I think 2 years is fine. That's what we're doing mostly to save money b/c we're buying a home and paying for the wedding. It also gives you plenty of time to research and you can book vendors at your leisure. We booked the hall in Jan, then took a break, and started looking for photography a couple of months later. I like that we can do things 1 at a time and take a break in between booking. Personally, I hate all this planning and I need to give myself a break in between vendors!

You have to do what's best for you. If you have your heart set on that hall and it's not available earlier, you make the adjustments.

We'll be married just short of 11 months after he proposed. I knew I couldn't wait more than a year and our hall was available due to a last minute drop-out so we just moved on it.

Whatever the timeframe, just enjoy the process!!

Re: TIME

We got engaged Christmas Eve and are getting married this October. We really wanted a fall wedding and didn't want to wait 2 years. I haven't had a problem planning my wedding at all, however I knew what I wanted so it was easy to shop for vendors, dresses, etc. I think it depends on what both of you would like to do...
