Hey Ladies! Hmmm this is my first post and i was wondering if you girls could help me...
My ceremony starts at 4pm (Sunday). A greek orthodox ceremony is about an hour long. and then i figure after the wedding that people will hang out for about a 1/2 hour or so? (you know congratulating and stuff) Not sure! And then well my reception starts at 6pm. The reception hall is literally 10 minutes away.
Now the question...am i cutting it too short? Should i make the reception at 6:30? any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Re: Time between ceremony and reception?
If you plan to take pictures in between, and want to make it to your cocktail hour, I would go with 6:30

Re: Time between ceremony and reception?
I have the same dilemma. My ceremony starts at 4:30. It is about an hour long, my cocktail hour starts at 7 and the hall is at least a half hour away. That doesn't allow too much time for pictures.
If I were you I'd make the cocktail hour for 6:30 just to be safe.

I would definately change it to 630. I am also having my reception at the North Ritz Club and I am also Greek Orthodox but my ceremony is at 130pm at a GO church in the BX. The reason it is so early is because after the church we are going somewhere to take pics (probably OWG). I have heard of alot of Greek Brides being late to the church so just incase any of the brides before you are late that will push back your time. If you are running a 1/2hr behind schedule then you dont want to feel rushed to get to the North Ritz even though it is 10 min a way

Re: Time between ceremony and reception?
Take as MUCH time as you feel you need. Guests and Family members can endure a few hour break. Take your pics and have your service and receiving line, not to mention a few minutes to you and FH...
Check out this thread w ideas of what to do w ppl in between..
Id def go for 630....you can get done what you need to do without rushing.,.....go enjoy your cocktai hour!!!
I would say 630 if you want to give yourself some time. We went to a 1 pm wedding today and we didn't leave the church until 2:45 between receiving line and waiting for them to take a few pictures.

there doesn't seem to be a huge difference between 6 and 6:30. i don't think your guests will mind either way. it's more a matter of your own convenience.

I would say to have it at 6:30. It will give you and your guests sometime to unwind and you can also slip in some pictures so you can enjoy your cocktail hour.

Re: Time between ceremony and reception?
Is there anywhere for the guests to go in the interim? Can your hall accomodate people who show up early? Will your guests be VERY upset if there is nowher for them to go? I agree it is your day so you should do what is good for you-- but it is important to be thoughtful of the guests as well.
I am also having my wedding in a Greek Orthodox Church at 3pm and my reception is at 6pm--A long gap in between ---I know--- but my hall has a bar where they can hang out for awhile and my Banquet manager said they will open the cocktail hour early if a lot of people show up early.
