Ok I did things a little backwards. I booked the RH first before the church. I am getting married at 3:30 in the church because they had nothing later and my cocktail hr doesn't start till 7:30. Is that to much time between them. I tried to change my RH for 7:00 to make it a little better but they have another cocktail hr at 6:30 so I can't. I might only have about a handfull of people that will be out of towners. Please I need advice.

Re: Time between Ceremony and RH
It is a lot of time. I wouldn't mind waiting myself but others may mind.

You have a nice chunk of time to take pictures, have you considered looking into taking pictures at Old Westbury Gardens?

Re: Time between Ceremony and RH
I don't think so... I'm having my CH at 7:30 also and will probably start the mass at 3. They say it'll take about 1hr and 15 minutes in church, between the mass, greeting line and pix. Then by the time we get to the place it'll be after 5 which gives us some time for more pix and to RELAX!!! My wedding also is on a friday though, so I tried to make it kinda late so guests had time to arrive from work..

It's not too much time...there is a bunch of things in the Lindenhurst area for people to do to kill time in between..... There is an applebees near by for them to get a drink...or a number of local bars if they want to stop in Is it that obvious that i'm IRISH!!....Other than that, if it's not too cold, you can give them directions to a local park or beach area or something??

I don't think it is too much time. i am getting married at 4:00 and my CH is at 7:30....we are not having a mass just a ceremony but by the time everyone leaves the church and you take pics....the time will fly. Most people won't mind I am sure...

Mine is the same... I think its fine.. figure the ceremony will probably go until almost 4:30, then you gotta take some pics at church and same hi to people.. you probably won't leave the church until close to 5. Then you have to travel to your hall or wherever you are taking pictures... & then that will take a while.. I think its perfect time to get everything done so you can enjoy your cocktail hour. And as for the guests, they are adults and can figure out what to do... I wouldn't worry about it.

Re: Time between Ceremony and RH
im having the same gap and my church and reception hall are literary less than 5 minutes apart. We are having some cookies tea and coffee for the OOT at a local cafe for their wait in between - also check with ur RH, sometimes they have hospitality for instances like yours

Re: Time between Ceremony and RH
My ceremony begins at 3...cocktail hour is at 7 The church is in Queens, and the RH is in Seacliff...so my guests have a hike.
While I'm taking pictures, a lot of guests will be going back to my parent's house to relax, but we're also including directions to a local cafe where guests can hang out and get a cup of coffee to kill some time.

Re: Time between Ceremony and RH
I don't think that is too much time at all. My sister had something similar and she was worried it was too much time, but it actually worked out for the best because we got to take all of her pictures and she got to attend her CH. Guests have time to go back and change and relax. My church ceremony starts at 2:30 and my CH starts at 7.

Re: Time between Ceremony and RH
My Church starts at 2:30 and CH at 6. We are having a bus pick guests up at the hotel to bring them to the wedding so it gives them something to do (go to the hotel). But even if we didn't I wouldn't worry about it. That is typical.

Re: Time between Ceremony and RH
My church starts at 2pm and the CH starts at 6pm so we have the same gap. We figure people will either not come to the church or get ready in between the church and the reception. It gives us enough time to do pics so we can go to the cocktail hour if we want.

Re: Time between Ceremony and RH
What about doing refreshments at someone's house? Do you live close to either location?
We have about 3 hours in between. So I am thinking of having my mom have some cookies and refreshments in between. This way everyone has a place to go. I live like 5 minutes from the church so it's quick to get too also.

Re: Time between Ceremony and RH
Honestly I like having a lot of time in between as I never dress for the party when I go to the church. Our ceremony starts at 1 (unless our new church doesn't have it avaliable) and our CH starts at 6. We want a lot of time to take pics.
