TIME BETWEEN CEREMONY & RECEPTION
Okay, here's my problem. My ceremony is at 3:00PM in Floral Park (ceremony only 1/2 hour 45 minutes max). My reception starts at 7:00PM in Howard Beach, Queens. My FH is from Westchester. Is it our responsibilty to find something to do, or someplace to go for his whole family (approx. 20-25 people) after the ceremony ends? During this time the bridal party will be taking pictures at a different location. Any and all input and opions would be greatly appreciated! Good luck to all!

TIME BETWEEN CEREMONY & RECEPTION
My ceremony is at 4 and reception at 7, and my FI family are all from out of town as well. I am not worrying about finding them stuff to do. There is too much going on that day already that I am not going to worry about them.

I was thinking the same thing too, I just didn't know if I was being rude. Thanks for your input. Good Luck!

Well, you can always suggest a pub for them to go to for a cocktail. (if they drink) You can do a Howard Beach place to go to. But (as long as they drink responsibly) you can tell them to go to McCarthy's on Tulip Ave. It's a nice place.

I would definitely suggest giving your guests options to fill the 3 hr. gap. You may not want to worry about it, but you have to because you are still tying up their time between the ceremony and the reception. You don't have to plan anything extravagant or expensive but suggest somewhere for them to go nearby the reception place that will allow them to have a drink, or fruit/cheese, or something. As a guest, I would want that. You don't want them to feel ignored for 3 hours.

I don't think you should worry about it too much. But you might want to just give them some suggestions of places nearby...I bet your reception hall could help you with that. They may even have something printed out already, but it's definatly not something to stress over. I've been on the opposite side many times and I've always found somthing to do on my own.

there have been countless bars that I have spent time in between weddings...I would just mention one...maybe if it had a pool table or some other form of entertainment?

TIME BETWEEN CEREMONY & RECEPTION
Unfortunately, when there are large gaps between the ceremony and reception a lot of guests might opt to skip your ceremony - which I am sure you don't want. We will have a slight gap as well in between the church and reception but the hotel we are having the reception at has a lounge/bar where guests can go to before the cocktail hour or if they are staying at the hotel that night they can go back to their rooms to freshen up as well. Ask your reception hall for some suggestions of nearby places or see if they have the facilities to 'hold guests over' until the reception starts. Best of luck!

I'm assuming that your reception is at Russo's on the Bay. If that's the case, there's a lot going on on Cross Bay Blvd. It may be a good idea to take a ride down there and see if any of the cafes look like they will suit your guests. Just make sure they don't eat! The food at Russo's is to die for!!Welcome New Vendors
