time for me to vent...

time for me to vent...

This was my last straw with sister-MOH...
I spoke with her over the weekend, she still has not bought her plane ticket for e-party (sept), & her husband is not coming, for whatever reason. I was going to ask him to be GM, but now not even sure, since he has no desire to come out for party.

Well what I am soooooooooo hurt about is she had the nerve to ask if she can invite a friend to the party. I said no. Then she said, she'll know no-one. So I said sure you will know mom, and you can finally meet FH family, his sisters can't wait to meet her. Her response, 'I don't want to talk to them,'
They she tried to get all joking and say I'll just drink.

Now if you remember I posted how hurt I am that she does not ackowledge FH birthday with even a card (I never once brought it up to her). May was her DH b-day and she thanked for the gift & asked when my FH B-day was (we've been together for 4 years), she came out and said, 'oh, well I don't send presents until there's a ring.'

I have done everything so far myself (mom is great too). she is in AZ, so I don't ask for much, just show up and that is a hastle. This is so upsetting to me that she can't even act happy for me. She never had a wedding, so maybe that's it, but the 'jokes' and comments are so hurting. now this, I can't dare tell FH, he'd be so hurt too.

I was never a big fan of me in the spotlight for a shower, but I doubt she'll even plan one.

I am so thankful for HIS thoughtful sisters, who understand how special this time is for me.

Thanks for listening.

I am so sorry to hear this Jenn. It is good that you have his sisters. I only have one older sister (MOH) and she is not married yet. I think she is jealous because she still lives at home and is older and not married. She wants nothing to do with the wedding. It is very upsetting. She is your only sister. You don't need to worry about this when you have so much else to worry about. Isn't it funny how the people you expect to be there the most aren't happy for you. That seems to happen to a lot of girls on here. Good Luck

Re: time for me to vent...

thanks. it's funny how I can have great FILs but not a supportive sister. I don't have the heart to not choose my sister, and it would also mean choosing between his 2 sisters. At this point my mom is my #1, as usual. I can't even think about it, because her comment is sickening.

I like Chippa's kick her in the shins idea.

Re: time for me to vent...

it's certainly painful when peole we care about can't find it in their heart to put aside whatever might be wrong in their lives, and feel happy for us. i kow it does' make it hurt less when you're going through it - but you can at least be grateful for your mother and your 2 FSIL's and your FH. And you can tell yourself that you are the better person because you have the ability to look beyond your own pain and see other's. You choose not to tell FH what comments are being made so as to spare his feelings. You ARE a good person. It's a shame that your sister can't do the same. She seems to have some other problems going on in her life.
Hope this all gets better for you.
If you ever need to vent - we're all here for you!

Re: time for me to vent...

You should express your thoughts to your sis or to your mom. If you have a close relationship with your mom, I would suggest telling her that you feel that she will ruin ur party and wedding if she keeps this behavior up. Express thoughts of another MOH to your mom and see what she says.. Maybe she can be the monkey in the middle and knock some sense into ur sisters head!
Best wishes, and don't let her ruin your events... This is your time to shine!!!

Re: time for me to vent...

Sorry to hear this Jenny! My in-laws are far more supportive of Matt and I than my parents and it is hard. I just learned that they show things differently. My parents love us but they aren't very demonstrative. Your sister is far away and it is hard to get excited from far. Once she gets here for your e-party, hopefully that will change. Give her the benefit of the doubt and rely on your SIL's in the meantime.

Hope this helps

Re: time for me to vent...

Jennifer, I'm SOOO sorry!! You KNOW (based on my post re my sister-MOH last week) that I totally understand. It's so hurtful and sad when your own family can be so disappointing and selfish. I'm here if you need to vent or exchange horror stories.
