I'm trying to figure out our time frame for a wedding with the reception at 12:30, and ceremony beginning at 1:00 and running through 5:00 p.m. Does anyone have a similar schedule they could share?
One other thing, when is everyone planning to do the first dance? I seem to recall this happening before dinner at the weddings I have attended, fairly early in the reception. But a couple of books I looked at had this happening after dinner.
Thanks for your help!

Re: Time Frame for a Daytime Wedding
P.S. We are doing some photos before the ceremony, starting at 10:00 a.m. So hopefully, we won't have to use up the whole cocktail hour for photos.

Ifit is after dinner then it technically might not be the first dance , right?
Unless there isnt dancing before the dinner that is

Our ceremony is at 11am Cocktail hour 11:30 - 1pm Reception 1-5pm
We're doing pics before ceremony and during some of CH. First dance is right after being announced....

Re: Time Frame for a Daytime Wedding
Thank you! I thought it seemed strange to do the first dance after dinner. Most people do seem to do it first thing following the cocktail hour. When I saw it in one book, I figured the writer didn't know what he/she was talking about, but when I saw it in a second, I started to wonder.

Re: Time Frame for a Daytime Wedding
I think what you were reading was referring to a custom that is not often done on LI. In other states, they do the whole dinner - all courses except dessert - right after announcement. Then, they do an hour or two of just dancing, with dessert in between. (Saw this at good friend's wedding in MD). Here, where we usually alternate dining with dancing, your first dance is right after you are announced into the room. You can also do a first and then second dance, which we did. Our first dance was just us (it was really short), and then 2nd dance we asked BP and parents and guests to join us.
