Time lag between church and rec.

Time lag between church and rec.

Is anyone having this problem. Everyone seems to be in such a tizzy because, we are getting marred at the church at 2:30 and the reception starts at 5:30. The parents are all worried about what are people going to do in between. They think they have to entertain them, but I want the immediate family to leave the church with the BP to take pictures. Am I crazy, does anyone have any ideas????

This is so common these days. Unless the ceremony is at the same place, there is always a time lapse.

People will go back to the hotel or to a bar to get a few drinks. Don't worry about it. They'll entertain themselves.

Agree, the same things happen to all of my siblings when they were married. People find things to do, it shouldn't be your concern on your day.

HI

That time difference is really nothing after the by the time church is over and you are done with your receiving line it will prob 4 o'clock and they have to get to the place. i wouldn't worry about it. My church is at 2:30 as well and the cocktail hour isn't until 7:30. Usually places accomadate guests arriving a little early. You will definately need that time to take your pictures. Remember it's your day and people will manage.

I also have lag time, although I have a bigger gap. 2:30 ceremony, 7PM CH. There is an hour drive between locations, but we wanted the time for pictures. The hotel for OOT'ers is closer to reception site than ceremony, so I figure those guests will go to hotel. For those that live here, most of them live within a 10 mile radius of ceremony site. I figure those will go home and change into something different.

Well people are just going to have to find something to do while we take pictures

That's what I thought too.
But my parents and fil both feel that they have to entertain. I would like a later reception like yours but feel that this is soooo much pressure for the guests.

I think I might have you all beat...1pm church & 7:30pm CH!!! We need the time though to get all our pics taken. Plus we have about 23 people in the BP to get in place for the pics, etc. FILs are having their relatives at their house but my parents are going to the hotel where most of the guests in my family are staying. Don't worry about it...the time goes fast & the guests will be aware of the short time lag from the invitation. They'll take care of themselves.
