Time schedule between Church and Reception

Time schedule between Church and Reception

I just wanted opinions/suggestions regarding my time schedule between Church and reception hall. Right now, my Church is booked for 3:00 pm in Northern Manhattan. I am like 10 minutes from the Triboro (with no traffic). My reception hall is about 30 min. away, again with no traffic. Now, I feel I have way too much time in between the two b/c my cocktail hour starts at 6:30pm and Church should be over by 4-4:15pm (including receiving line). I do plan on taking pics at the Church, but dont know how much time that usually takes. I am getting married on a Sunday in July at Leonard's of Great Neck and I am anticipating there will be traffic, so I am allowing at least 1 hour to get there, but still leaves about 1 1/2 hrs for my guests until cocktail time. I was thinking of calling Church and moving it to 3:30 or 4pm...What do you ladies think?

1 1/2 gap is not a big gap at all. i wouldn't change anything. this gives you time for pictures, talking to people after ceremony and trafic. don't worry! i've been to weddings w/ a bigger gap than 1 1/2 hours!

I would leave it. You think ure is bad my Mass starts at 2:30 and my cocktail hour starts at 7.

I would leave it as well. I have a 3pm mass and a 7pm cocktail hour. I think your time gap is fairly common. Also alot of churchs ONLY do mass weddings at 11, 1 or 3 pm. So changing the time at the church may not be an option. (I know thats how mine is) I wouldnt worry!

Thanks guys...I feel more at ease now...I was worried b/c I dont know where these people should go afterwards. Plus, the limos might go into O/T which I am trying to avoid. I wonder what will happen if I get to the hall early. I guess I will have to call and ask the banquet mgr. Those of you who have a large gap, what are you doing during that time?
