Re: Time Share
Send Julz an FM. I know someone in her family let her and DH use a timeshare for their HM. I used two weeks of timeshares for mine, but we went to Mexico (Acapulco and Puerto Vallarta)

Re: Time Share
Which places did you go to in Mexico? I am still considering other places... it is so hard to tell what a place would be like from the timeshare description. We are planning a trip with FH's brother and fiance to The Grand Mayan in Acapulco... they went in May and loved it!

Re: Time Share
That's where we stayed! My family own three weeks directly with Mayan, so we stayed at the Grand Mayan in Acapulco and the Mayan Palace in Nuevo Vallarta. We loved both resorts, but we prefered NV just based on our personal styles. The pool in Acapulco is unbelievable! You have to go to the kids area and just float around the lazy river. And let me tell you, Acapulco is one part beautiful, and one part HOT, so you're going to spend a lot of time in the water! Let me know if you want any restaurant/club recomendations.

I just wanted to warn you that if you do plan to do a timeshare in hawaii to put it in now. I placed my request in august and after 3 months we had to change it because the request wasnt going though. Hawaii is VERY difficult to get with timeshares. What timeshare do you have? If you have interval, I did plenty of research and found out of their selection, the marriott and the westin were the best ones.

Re: Time Share
Their membership is RCI... I have been looking through all the resorts but I am not sure if the place is nice or if the pictures are just good!

Re: Time Share
Write down all the hotels you are remotely interested in. Then go to www.tripadvisor.com and read unbiased reviews from people that have stayed there. Also try going to expedia.com where they list star ratings and sometimes have different pictures. Hope this helps!!

Your request for hawaii went through? When did you place it? I waited for three months and the request was still pending so we changed our honeymoon plans to the carribean.

Re: Time Share
I put in my request the beginning of August. After more than 3 months of waiting, we didnt want to ruin our chances of going somewhere else. We just pulled the request in the beginning of December and changed it to the carribean. One of the two weeks we requested went through. Now we are just waiting for the second week to go through.

Re: Time Share
We've done exchanges thourgh both RCI and Interval. Though we've never stayed in Hawaii, we've never been disappointed with any of the resorts we picked. Like Divabride said, check the reviews on Tripadvisor, that will help narrow down your choices. And of course availability. Tell me what dates you want to go, I'll do a quick search on the RCI website and see if it says anything about availability.

Re: Time Share
That would be so nice of you to look for me! I have to call my future mother in law to look into it when we are ready to book. We are thinking sept 5th-12th in Kauai then 12th-19th in Maui... or vice versa. If you see anything let me know, if you are too busy no worries!

Re: Time Share
I just checked, and it shows no availability. Not to mention, I know the dates you want are Monday to Monday, but most timeshares do either Saturday to Saturday or Sunday to Sunday. I also tried doing it for Sunday dates, but there was no availability for that either. I'm going to check on more thing and I'll let you know what I find.

Here's what I came up with. There doesn't seem to be anything available for exchange, but you could pay for an extra vacation through RCI and here's what I found. 1) Celebrity Resort Waikiki- Honolulu studio—$791.99 partial kitchen 1 bedroom — $879.99 partial kitchen available Sept. 11-18
